I’d like to draw the attention of our biomedtech community to an excellent new learning opportunity we developed and launched in June, in collaboration with Safer Care Victoria, which is now available. It’s our “Foundations of Medical Technology Innovation” online module, which is a short (6-8hrs) zero barrier, zero prior knowledge and minimal effort, high value way to get started creating new and useful products to improve the delivery of healthcare. https://lnkd.in/g4c3UgXa Why did we do this? During 2023, at Monash Institute of Medical Engineering #mimemedtech we realised we shared a need with Safer Care Victoria (thanks to the visionary thinking of Kim Griffiths!) MIME and SCV both work with large networks of clinicians and healthcare workers which contain a significant number of innovative thinkers who want to improve their ability to deliver healthcare, but don’t really know where to start to do something about it, and they definitely don’t have a no barrier way to do so. So with the help of our friends at Safer Care Victoria and the Australian MedTech Manufacturing Centre, led by Monash and MIME's own super talented Leah Heiss and Khoa N. Cao Cao, we got together with a diverse group of healthcare workers, academic researchers, industry and government representatives to workshop what the gaps are in our network’s understanding of the fundamentals. Applying the world-renowned biodesign methodology, we developed this self-paced online program, which is COMPLETELY FREE, has now been started and warmly received by hundreds people from our network, and is available for all. In Australia we are fortunate to have access to many outstanding organisations who support, in several different ways, biomedical technology innovation. For example (non-exhaustive) ANDHealth, CICA Lab - Clinician Incubator Clinician Accelerator, MedTech Actuator, Jumar Bioincubator, Brandon Capital...... These organisations run excellent, high quality accelerator programs which, depending on your needs, you should strongly consider joining. Our new online module is a great primer for all of them, and we'd be really pleased for anyone to give it a go, and let us know what you think! The Centre for Drug Discovery Innovation is inviting applications to present at the inaugural NSW Drug Discovery Forum on Monday 28 October and Tuesday 29 October.
