  • The Gold Netball Centre played host to the England Roses over the past two weeks as they prepared for their upcoming series against the Origin Australian Diamonds. It was great to have an elite, international netball program complete their courtwork at the Home of Netball in Western Australia. The visits also provided opportunities for our athletes and umpires to engage with the Roses training program.

  • Netball WA is incredibly disappointed the WA Institute of Sport has decided to end its Netball Program after a 40-year association with the sport. Netball WA Group Chief Executive Officer Simone Hansen said: “Netball has been associated with WAIS since 1984 and to end our relationship after 40 years is a blow to netball in Western Australia and the development of WA netball talent.” READ MORE | https://lnkd.in/gC5-SCdH

  • Netball WA is excited to support the City of Armadale-led Armadale Regional Recreation Reserve, which will be of great benefit to the local community as well as sports like netball.   Currently, any netballer residing in the City of Armadale must travel outside the City to play the game they love. This new facility will allow for netball to take place in Armadale for the first time ever. Once delivered, the Armadale Regional Recreation Reserve will help to increase the number of Armadale netballers by 130 per cent by 2030.

We've signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Netball WA & West Coast Fever and Basketball WA committing to advocate for the establishment of Stage One of the Armadale Regional Recreation Reserve (ARRR). Stage One of the ARRR is a multi-sport district facility that will address critical gaps in recreational infrastructure, providing 20 new outdoor and eight indoor netball/basketball courts alongside a cutting-edge indoor sporting complex with gym and community facilities. City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “The ARRR will be transformative to the region and address a major deficit of facilities and opportunities. Netball WA and Basketball WA recognise the importance of having high quality local facilities in our communities.” To find out more, please read our latest media release: https://lnkd.in/gR7H9jPH Signing photo (L-R): CEO Basketball WA Nathan Cave, CEO Netball WA Simone Hansen, CEO City of Armadale Joanne Abbiss Group photo: (Back L-R) Cr Jiby Joy, Business News Executive Chairman Elton Swarts, Netball WA Group CEO Simone Hansen, Mayor Ruth Butterfield, Basketball WA CEO Nathan Cave, City of Armadale CEO Joanne Abbiss, Hon Matt Keogh MP, Cr John Keogh, Cr Shanavas Peter (Front L-R) Cr Keyur Kamdar, children from Forrestdale Primary School, Cr Gary Smith

  • Friday was Netball WA's Night of Nights as we hosted the 2024 Jill McIntosh Medal at Optus Stadium and celebrated another successful year of netball and the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League. More than 250 people enjoyed an amazing evening and we were honoured to have WA Netball icon Jill McIntosh AM there to present the medal named in her honour. Jill entertained the crowd with stories from her playing and career coaching in a great on-stage interview with our Emcee Stacey Francis-Bayman as well as discussing her recent stint as Head Coach of the Cardiff Dragons. Congratulations to Caitlyn Brown who secured a second Jill McIntosh Medal! A big thank you to our Event Partner Brightside Live and our awesome Events Team for another terrific event! • Last Friday, Netball WA hosted the 2024 Multicultural Carnival which saw 25 divisions of school-based teams descend on Gold Netball Centre and Matthews Netball Centre. The one-day event promotes participation and engages players from a wide variety of ethnicities to foster their netball skills in a fun and encouraging environment. The Carnival is a celebration of WA’s cultural diversity and requires 5 participants with 1 or more parents born overseas or to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander on court at all times. Well done to Netball WA's Community Netball team for their work in driving this important Carnival.

  • Recently, we hosted THREE Regional Netball Championships in one weekend as netballers travelled far and wide to participate in Albany, Busselton and Geraldton for their chance to shine! More than 1,500 netballers, umpires and volunteers took part in the three championships, in another sign of the strength of our sport at the grassroots. A big thank you to the CBH Group, who were the Presenting Partner of the Great Southern and Midwest Gascoyne Regional Championships, for their continued support of regional netball. And well done to all the volunteers and Netball WA Staff who did an amazing job to organise and deliver these three championships, even battling some tough weather conditions!
