It's Brain Injury Awareness Week and we're spotlighting one of our participants, Mark, who lives with an acquired brain injury. Find out more here, including some great links if you or someone you know needs support. Name: Mark Korenhof, I am 58 and live in Cranbourne West in supported accommodation. My family lives nearby. How long have you lived with an acquired brain injury? I have had a brain injury for the last 24 years. I had a large pituitary brain tumour. How does it affect your day-to-day life? It kills all my motivation, I was active before and now I'm not very active at all. My memory is slower and I have some trouble with my vision. What do you wish people knew about what it’s like to have an ABI? Don't judge a book by its cover because not all disabilities are obvious like being in a wheelchair. What have you found helpful? Going to the Brain Injury Matters peer support group and getting on the NDIS. I am lucky to get so much support.
