  • NAIDOC Week celebrates and recognises the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an important opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. This year's theme, Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud and Proud celebrates the unyielding spirit of communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced. Learn more about how you can share in celebrations in an event in your area > https://lnkd.in/dexeVKVM

Congratulations to the entire team behind last year's Ring Cycle at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), which has just won the first WXO Experience Award for Tech! Presented last week at the World Experience Summit in New York City, these awards celebrate innovators in the fields of Art, Science, Business, Tech and Experience. There were over 165 entries, and we were proud to be one of just five winners. 📷 Wallis Media

  • Clancestry Conversations is a curated series of conversations centered around First Nations issues of today. This year we will feature two conversations: one with stories behind the production Straight from the Strait from the Aunties and Uncles who have carried this story from that historic day; and speak to organisation Link-Up (Qld) about their work in reconnecting stolen generations back with family and Country. Don’t miss these thought-provoking and insightful conversation as part of Clancestry 2024. [📷 Photo from Clancestry Conversations 2023, by Tai Bobongie]

  • Five years ago we announced an exclusive presentation of Wagner's The Ring Cycle with our friends at Opera Australia, Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University, Opera Queensland, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The staging of any Ring Cycle is an epic undertaking, but for all involved in the 2023 QPAC season, it felt like an insurmountable quest after the wrath of multiple COVID interruptions and a flood. Director Chen Shi-Zheng's vision of the world's first digital Ring Cycle earned overwhelming critical and audience acclaim, and goes down in our history as a triumphant once-in-a-lifetime season. • National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year's theme 'Now More Than Ever' is a reminder that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue. At QPAC, we’re committed to our own reconciliation journey through our Reconciliation Action Plan and we wholeheartedly support NRW 2024. We thought we’d share a few things to read, watch, visit and listen to during NRW and beyond to promote empathy and understanding.
