What a night to remember! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible evening for Symphony Under the Stars. We loved every moment, and the turnout was absolutely fantastic! It’s always a joy to share the magic of music with all Queenslanders. As always, the GPC Marina Stage was a joy to perform on. It was a truly special evening filled with unforgettable moments and beautiful memories, and we’re so grateful for your support. Here’s to many more nights like this! The Gladstone Enrichment through Music (GEM) initiative is a fantastic partnership between the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Australia Pacific LNG (operated by ConocoPhillips).

  • Thank you to the beautiful communities of Roma, Miles, Tara and Chinchilla who made us feel so welcome throughout our recent tour. Regional touring is at the heart of what we do and love at QSO. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our passion for music with all Queenslanders across the state. It is a true highlight of our year. Honestly…we can’t wait to go back! The CMRT Initiative, which stands for Chinchilla Miles Roma Tara Enrichment through Music, represents a long-term collaboration between Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Australia Pacific LNG operated by Origin Energy. A huge thank you to the incredible musicians and staff who do these tours, and make moments like these possible.

We’re less than two weeks away from one of our favourite nights of the year. Experience a magical night under the stars with Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Don’t miss your opportunity to hear world class musicians live on stage, in the heart of Gladstone. Bring your family and friends for an unforgettable night, showcasing a wide variety of music, from the enchanting Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to John Williams’ beloved Harry Potter, and Stravinsky’s radiant Firebird Suite will erupt with a kaleidoscope of orchestral colour. At the heart of this concert is Peter Sculthorpe’s Kakadu – a vivid reflection on the changing of the seasons. Digeridoo virtuoso William Barton will breathe rhythm and life into this now iconic Australian work. This is not a night to be missed. The Gladstone Enrichment through Music (GEM) initiative, is a wonderful collaboration between Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Australia Pacific LNG, operated by ConocoPhillips

  • This week we bid congratulations and farewell to our QSO Academy musicians, Jordan Hall (violin), Haneulle Lovell (violin), Ella Psyden (viola), Kenneth Harris (double bass), Sam Schimming (trumpet), Ella Hicks (percussion) and Michael Gibson (cello), as they have completed this year’s program. The good news is our Academy musicians are always part of the QSO family, so keep an eye out for them on stage with QSO. The QSO Academy is possible thanks to the leadership of Imants Larsens and the QSO musicians that provide mentorship and guidance through the program. QSO would like to thank Dr Ralph and Mrs Susan Cobcroft, Plate Marketing, John Story AO and Georgina Story for their generous support of the QSO Academy. For more information about the program and how you too can support the QSO Academy, please visit https://lnkd.in/gZnrQmgf.

  • Introducing our newly appointed section trumpet, Alfie Carslake! Born and raised in Sydney, Alfie completed his Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Leanne Sullivan. His studies subsequently led him to Germany, where he undertook a Master of Music at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, studying with Professor Wim Van Hasselt. Alfie has made guest appearances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in Europe with the Philharmonie Baden Baden and the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed and toured with the Australian World Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta. Additionally, Alfie regularly performs as Principal Trumpet with the Sydney-based orchestra collective Ensemble Apex. Alfie is thrilled to be joining the QSO in 2024, and we're thrilled to have him! Please join us in welcoming Alfie into the Queensland Symphony Orchestra full time! 🎺 🎉💖

  • We always love our time in Roma, and this year was no different. Conductor Ingrid Martin led the Roma Combined Schools String Ensemble and Concert Band with aplomb. The local student musicians and educators were a joy to perform alongside, and that joy could be felt emanating through the Roma Bungil Cultural Centre. These visits are a vital component of the Chinchilla Miles Roma Tara Enrichment through Music initiative, a creative collaboration between Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Australia Pacific LNG (operated by Origin Energy) Together, we aim to provide exceptional music education and concert opportunities to students in regional Queensland. We’re very grateful for this marvellous opportunity.

  • Yesterday, members of Queensland Symphony Orchestra took to the Tara Soldiers’ Memorial Hall for another smashing Community in Concert event! It's always an absolute joy to share the beauty of music with so many across Queensland, and to get such lovely feedback from the community. As one local said "LOVED the concert. It truly made my heart sing. After not having easy access to this calibre of music for so long, it reminded me how good it is for the soul and how important it is to make time for these events." The CMRT Initiative, or Chinchilla Miles Roma Tara Enrichment through Music, represents a long-term collaboration between Australia Pacific LNG (operated by Origin Energy) and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Over the next few days our musicians and QSO Connect team will travel almost 1500 kilometres, to perform for and with hundreds of students and music lovers from each town. We’re incredibly lucky to make this trip for the eighth year now, to share the joy of music and education with all of Queensland. • It was a very happy Friday here at QSO today as we welcomed more than 200 special guests to our Healthy Ageing and Relaxed performances at our South Brisbane Studio. These performances are an important part of our Health and Wellbeing Program, which ensures your state Orchestra can share the power of music with all Queenslanders. Today’s concerts offered specially curated repertoire and a safe and welcoming environment for aged care residents, people living with dementia and with disabilities, as well as their carers. We are truly grateful to Health and Wellbeing Queensland and the Eastern Star Foundation for their generous support of our Health and Wellbeing Program. If you are interested in supporting our Health and Wellbeing Program, please visit https://bit.ly/3LpZf0q
