#ThrowbackThursday to our first table reading of Flowers in Antarctica, a new play by Wendy Mocke, commissioned for our largest educational offering - The Scene Project.
Over the past five weeks, actors Zahrah Andrews, Thea Raveneau, Amer Thabet, Lewis Remy Ziebarth and Stage Manager Josiene James have travelled statewide accompanied by our Education and Youth team, engaging with more than 130 schools across Queensland.
Participating students are tasked with the challenge of creating their own unique 15-minute version of the play that they present at Outcome Days at their local performing arts centre, for their peers and our team. The students then enjoy the full production of Flowers in Antarctica, directed by Claire Christian, followed by a learning and sharing forum.
From next week, we welcome back the cast and crew to the Bille Brown Theatre to continue performing for and celebrating students as they wrap up our biggest Scene Project ever.
From Roma to Cairns, they’ve performed extensively throughout our beautiful state, and despite only two weeks remaining there are numerous students to continue sharing this work with.
Our biggest thanks to the entire team of actors, creatives, teaching artists, educators, the production and education & youth teams for their tireless efforts in collaborating with young artists across the state.
The Scene Project is generously supported by the Australian Communities Foundation, the Rekindle Foundation, and the Keith and Jeanette Ince Fund.
