Last year, we published three blog posts introducing Argonaut, the micro-frontend platform powering www.realestate.com.au. As promised, we've now completed the series with four additional posts covering the developer experience, resilience, reflections on building Argonaut, and what the future may hold. For REA Group, a micro-frontend platform represents a "best of breed" architecture for building a world-class property experience. While we set the bar high, Argonaut has exceeded our expectations. We hope that by sharing our journey, others may also benefit from considering whether such an architecture is right for them. Join us as we complete our introduction to Argonaut, and as always, we'd love to hear from you about your own experiences with micro-frontends in the comments. Our Community Café first opened in Melbourne in 2017, and is 100% funded by REA Group with all proceeds going to an employee nominated “cause of the month”. Last week, we brought the Community Café to our Sydney office! We were joined by the Bearded Barista and had loads of morning beverages on offer, as well as a few tasty treats to celebrate.  All proceeds from our employee’s morning refreshments will go to The Aftershock as voted by our Sydney team. With the Community Café, we’re not just kick starting our day – we’re kick starting change.

To recognise NAIDOC Week this week, we’ve been ‘Keeping the Fires Burning’ by building the cultural competency of our people with Evolve Communities' ‘7 Steps to Reconciliation and Allyship’ Course. Team Assistant, Ayesha Tate, grew up with a close connection to Māori culture in New Zealand. This has driven her passion to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in Australia. Ayesha shared her reflections from the program: "It was really interesting to learn about First Nations peoples' cultural customs such as 'Sorry Business', their kinship and the differing communication styles - not just between First Nations and non-First Nations people, but also the differences between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language groups. "In a workplace, it's incredibly important for us to have the context and understanding when working with First Nations peoples and suppliers to ensure comfortability and inclusivity. With understanding comes respect, and in turn that allows us all to continue to bridge the gap!" #NAIDOC #experienceREA

To kick-off our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with Evolve Communities to build the cultural competency of our people with their ‘7 Steps to Reconciliation and Allyship’ Course and Ally Accreditation Program. Evolve Communities, a majority Indigenous owned and Supply Nation certified business, is led by Aboriginal Elder and author, Aunty Munya Andrews and award-winning learning designer and Churchill Fellow Carla Rogers, who is non-Indigenous. The seven steps course is available to all REA employees, and three of our people will have the opportunity to be part of the Ally Accreditation Program commencing in August. This training is just one way we’re ‘Keeping the Fire Burning’ at REA, and helps us deliver on the actions outlined in our Reconciliation Action Plan. #NAIDOC #keepthefireburning #experienceREA

Ahead of NAIDOC Week next week, we’d like to showcase the work of Cairns-based creative, Leigh Harris from igneous studios who developed this graphic artwork for our Reconciliation Action Plan in collaboration with Brisbane-based artist, Kerry Klimm. Leigh is an Aboriginal man with connections to the Kanolu people of Central Queensland and Gungarri people of South-East Queensland, who creates bespoke First Nations designs that are culturally safe and diverse. He also works to teach and empower young First Nations creatives through his social enterprise, IndigeDesignLabs. His work on this piece captures our Reconciliation journey through cultural symbolism and imagery that conveys the importance of acknowledging the past, embracing diversity and working towards a just and equitable Australia for all. We’re immensely proud of this design, and thank Leigh for his commitment to delivering something unique and powerful that brings our RAP vision to life. #experienceREA
