Earlier this month, REDARC CEO Anthony Kittel and Area Sales Manager Far North Queensland Brendan Edmonds embarked on a rewarding trip to Cairns, Queensland. The trip not only entailed connecting with customers, but also supporting a vital community cause. One of the highlights was a personalised delivery of REDARC products to the Cairns Street Chaplains. These dedicated heroes provide a lifeline to vulnerable people every Friday and Saturday night in the Safe Night Precinct. The Cairns Street Chaplains are there, offering a helping hand from 10.30 pm to 4.00 am. Their van, stationed at the corner of Grafton and Shields Streets, becomes a beacon of hope. Here, people receive essential support – from rehydration with water to basic first aid. It's a place to rest, recharge phones, or simply connect with someone who cares. Whether it's finding a safe place to stay the night or connecting with a sober friend, the Chaplains help people get back on their feet. By providing REDARC products for their vehicle, we're proud to support the tireless work of the Cairns Street Chaplains. It's a small token of appreciation for the big impact they make on the Cairns community.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tom Phillips AM on July 1st, 2024. Tom served as our esteemed Chair of the REDARC Electronics Pty Ltd Advisory Board for a decade, from 2006 to 2015. Leadership and Legacy: Tom's leadership played a pivotal role in REDARC's significant growth and success during his tenure. His extensive experience in the automotive industry, beginning in the 1960s at General Motors Holden, proved invaluable. He later held key positions at Toyota Motor Corporation, including Director of Sales and Marketing, before becoming Managing Director/President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia. Beyond Business: Tom's dedication extended far beyond the automotive world. A proud veteran, he served our country in South Vietnam. He was also a committed family man, married to Judith for over 50 years, with three children (Emma, Andrew Phillips, Peter) and grandchildren. His pursuit of knowledge led him to earn an MBA from the University of New England. A Guiding Light: Tom's contributions extended beyond the boardroom. He championed safety, playing a key role in establishing Safework Australia and shaping national work health and safety initiatives. In recognition of his outstanding service, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2007. A Lasting Inspiration: Tom's passion for REDARC was evident. In 2023, he shared a powerful message he received from Toyota's leadership, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement. This resonated deeply with him, and he believed it embodied REDARC's spirit of excellence. He championed the motto "well enough is not good enough," a philosophy that continues to inspire us today. A Fond Farewell: Tom was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a friend, and a kind soul who will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Phillips family during this difficult time.
