About us

RIDING FOR THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION AUSTRALIA (RDAA) is a voluntary, nonprofit organisation that supports State and Associate Members. The RDAA enables people with disabilities, or additional support needs to experience enjoyment, challenge and a sense of achievement through equestrian activities to improve their quality of life, attain personal goals and develop life skills. Volunteers are the lifeblood of any nonprofit organisation. RDAA volunteers are no exception; we rely heavily on our volunteers to deliver our services. RDAA objective is to support our volunteers to provide the best experience for our riders. Our corporate sponsors work together towards enriching the lives of people with disabilities locally, nationally and worldwide. • Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia (RDAA) is celebrating 60 years of RDA services in Australia! In 1964, Peter and June McIntyre established the first classes for riders with disabilities in Kenmore, Qld. From these origins, RDA spread across Australia with formal Associations formed in subsequent years, to create the network of service that we now know as RDA in Australia. RDA has been and continues to be a much loved and incredibly valuable service to communities right across Australia. We'll be sharing and celebrating stories from those communities in the coming days and months as we look back and reflect with pride. If you want to support us today, you can do so by: Donating: https://lnkd.in/gtVfBqaF Volunteering: https://lnkd.in/gifg9XBg

  • RDA Awareness week is almost upon us and amongst the stories and celebration of what we do right across Australia we'll also be sharing a few amazing ways in which our partners are coming to the party and helping us celebrate! The first is a BIG one! Our partners Tabcorp are launching their Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia (RDAA) fundraising week! RDA will feature across all SKY platforms for a dedicated week of storytelling and calls for the community to donate. To amplify the incentive to donate, SKY will match all donations up to $100k! • Another segment from our recent feature on C7 Sunrise. Hear from one of our 300 coaches, Rhiannon as she discusses the role of the horse in our program - as a therapeutic aid, essential member of staff and huge motivator for our participants to stay involved. 'Our biggest contributors with the smallest voice' Hear also from Esther and her mum, Alison on the impact RDA makes in her life. Fun, enjoyment, making friends and making meaningful connections with people and the horses that she rides. We have over 500 horses in RDA, who collectively deliver over 50,000 riding lessons each year - 50,000 opportunities for people like Esther to enjoy, learn, develop and connect. If you or your business would like to help us to deliver our programs right across Australia through, gifts, donations, volunteering or specialist partner support - contact our Executive Officer, Justin Dent via [email protected] to start the conversation today.

  • Incredibly grateful for the support of C7 Sunrise, coming on site to our Samford Riding for the Disabled Centre in Brisbane to help showcase just some of the amazing work we do at Riding for the Disabled Assoc. Australia Ltd. The first clip we're sharing features the wonderful Charlotte, a young volunteer who has given three years' service to RDA, and now balances it with her University Studies. At RDA we take on volunteers from the age of 12, there are almost 4,000 volunteers supporting our 72 Centres and they collectively give over 400,000 hours of service each year! Volunteering at RDA is a way for young people to learn, develop and grow, whilst giving tremendous value back to their community - enormous and long-lasting life lessons. We're looking for community and corporate support to continue our work and support our volunteer recruitment and training, if you can donate to this cause, visit https://lnkd.in/gtVfBqaF or if you think your business is a good fit, or you'd like to start a conversation on how you could partner with us, contact our Executive Officer, Justin Dent via [email protected] to start that conversation today. This clip also features the amazing Caleb, who started with us 10 years ago as a shy boy. He's grown confidence, skills and capacity at RDA. RDA is a big part of his life now and we're proud that he's part of our family. Riding horses to him feels 'magical' and 'like riding a cloud'. Check it out and be inspired.

  • Mark your calendars! 📆 We're super excited to share that Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia (RDAA) will be on Channel 7, featuring right across the morning on Sunrise!
