In 2022, global member states of ICAO (including Australia) agreed to a long-term aspirational goal of net-zero carbon dioxide CO2 emissions from aviation by 2050. Domestically, Australia has signed up to cutting carbon emissions by 43% (of 2005 levels) by 2035 to be net zero by 2050 across all sectors (not just aviation).
