Elecnor Australia is proud to announce that it has achieved a significant milestone with the energisation of the first section of the new Buronga substation in south-western NSW. Specialist teams have connected the 220kV section to the existing Buronga substation allowing power to flow in from the network for the first time. Behind the scenes, this process has required extraordinary technical expertise and collaboration involving key civil, electrical, construction, commissioning and overhead transmission line specialists. Teams have worked on every piece of high voltage equipment to secure and prepare the transition to energy production before the network can go live next month. Energy operators around the world are watching what we are doing at the Buronga substation as we power up Australia and set new benchmarks for others to follow. #EnergyConnect #Transgrid #energy #Burongasubstation #technicalexpertise

Elecnor has made transmission line history with the first ever Danubio tower to be erected in Australia near Lockhart, NSW. Project EnergyConnect is using Danubio towers because the structural strength of the Danubio tower design is required to carry the weight of the heavy quad 500 kV conductor bundles. This will enable the 500 kV infrastructure required to build this nation critical project, linking power between South Australia, Victoria and NSW. The average height of the Danubio tower is 60m with a weight of up to 60t for the Suspension towers and 80t for the Angle towers. Congratulations to the team involved with more than 100 workers on site erecting the towers and making history!! #EnergyConnect #Transgrid #Danubiotowers #transmissionlinehistory

Elecnor's Overhead Transmission Line team based at Lockhart Camp near Wagga Wagga, NSW have been celebrating a major milestone with the completion of 150 tower foundations between Dinawan and Wagga Wagga. Project Manager Alan MacRae said, “the team should be very proud of achieving this milestone”. The celebrations included a celebratory Elecnor Australia cake for the team. “On a major infrastructure project such as EnergyConnect it is important to celebrate success and this achievement is a timely one,” he said. “We all enjoyed taking a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made.” There are 334 towers on this line between Dinawan and Wagga Wagga. Some associated facts to date on this line: - 9000 cubic meters of concrete have been poured which is the equivalent of 3.6 Olympic swimming pools. - 524 x 1200mm dia piles installed. - 76 x 1800mm dia piles installed. - 1000 x reinforced cages fabricated (1200 tonnes). #EnergyConnect #Transgrid #gettingonwiththejob #meetingmilestones

Elecnor has some great news to share. We have achieved another construction milestone with our team completing the final foundation drilling on the western side of the Murrumbidgee River between Buronga and Balranald, NSW which includes 289 towers. This western-side foundation drilling program has been approximately eight months in the making, and it means we have now completed drilling more than a third of the 800 foundations on this line. Additionally, the team has poured over 11,200 m³ of concrete and is on track to complete the western side pour by the end of the month. To put this drilling program into perspective, the team has drilled a total of 1,156 foundation holes, each up to 8 meters deep. That's a staggering total depth of 9,250 meters — over a kilometre deeper than Mount Everest is tall! Thank you to everyone involved in achieving this great milestone. Elecnor has been honouring our First Nations with some beautiful story telling at our workers accommodation camp at Dinawan, near Bundure, NSW. The team including our subcontractor ESS Compass Group, created beautiful boomerangs with the help of the Coleambally-based, Murrumbidgee Arts Kinship Enterprise group known as MAKE. ESS Compass Group even designed a First Nations menu for our workforce with such delicacies as Prawn and Crocodile Laksa, and Kangaroo Bolognese. Dinawan means Emu in the Wiradjuri language and MAKE has been inspired by this name to draw a specially designed canvas with the emu at the heart of the story telling. We can’t wait to see the finished canvas! Thank you to MAKE and all the community members who attended our NAIDOC Week event at Dinawan. NAIDOC Week may be over for 2024 but we will keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud”. #MAKE #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOCWeek2024 #ESSCompassGroup #MuddyDuckTapasEvents #DinawanCamp #EnergyConnect

A small yet significant ceremony involving Elecnor and our client Transgrid has been held at the Cobb Highway Camp near Hay, NSW before construction of the camp gets underway. The camp is one of six on the EnergyConnect alignment that will house our workforce as we build Australia’s largest transmission line from the South Australian border to the energy hub of Wagga Wagga. Well-known Wiradjuri elder Michael Lyons performed a cultural smoking ceremony for those present. He welcomed us to the site and used different kinds of leaves to ward off bad spirits. Michael spoke movingly about the importance of caring for such an ancient land and preserving any artefacts found. He even played the didgeridoo. A shout to landholders Mac and Betty who also attended and shared their knowledge of the land. #Transgrid #EnergyConnect #Culturalsmoking #FirstNations #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC #NAIDOCWeek2024 #Ancientland

Congratulations to the Elecnor Australia team on achieving this milestone.
🌟Offline testing has begun!🌟 Ever since the arrival of two 120MVAr synchronous condensers (syn cons) late last year, the EnergyConnect team at Buronga substation has been working hard to assemble and commission the syn cons in preparation for offline testing. 🏗⚡The offline testing will ensure that the condensers operate safely and effectively prior to being connected to the grid. These condensers will play a key role in maintaining grid stability and enabling the sharing of energy between NSW, South Australia, and Victoria. Project Delivery Director Rob Harrison said: “This has been an incredibly hard-earned victory from the EnergyConnect team. It marks another key step towards the transition through transmission.” 👉Learn more about project EnergyConnect: https://brnw.ch/21wKQHN #energytransition #makingitpossible #cleanenergyfuture #cleanenergy #renewables #renewableenergy
