    The RBA has just announced a hold to the cash rate at 4.35% for the month of June. Top economists across major banks predicted the Reserve Bank's decision to keep the cash rate unchanged this month. Their assessments take into account the recent increase in headline inflation to 3.6% in the month of April, as well as the unemployment rate falling to 4.0% in May.

    Recent headlines claiming banks are "at war" with mortgage brokers are misguided and ignore the key player: Australian borrowers. If major lenders attempt to disrupt brokers and steer borrowers back to branches, they prioritise shareholder profit over borrower benefits. Mortgage brokers enhance competition among banks, leading to lower prices for consumers. Brokers provide access to over 100 lenders, ensuring a competitive market and better deals for borrowers. Suggestions that brokers are detrimental to banks are inaccurate; brokers drive competition and help borrowers save on interest. Major lenders' shrinking market share is due to competition from agile lenders, not brokers, and banks should focus on better serving borrowers.
