For young LGBTIQA+ migrants and refugees who may be isolated from their communities, finding supporting, accepting and safe environments is crucial. Last week we hosted the 2024 National SETSCoP Forum, bringing together over 100 settlement service providers from across Australia. The one-day event connected service providers, government, experts, advocates and researchers to discuss the future of settlement service planning implementation, migrants' and refugees' access to health and mental services, economic participation and diversity cohorts including LGBTIQA+, forcibly displaced and migrants and refugees with disabilities. We thank everyone who participated and engaged in the day and look forward to continuing conversations that began in Canberra. We welcome the Government's announcement to improve the digital inclusion of refugee and migrant women across Australia. According to the Australian Digital Inclusion Index (ADII), 1 in 4 people in Australia are still digitally excluded. People with low levels of income, education and employment, those living in some regional areas, people aged over 65 and people with a disability are at particular risk of being left behind. Many newly arrived migrants and refugees face barriers to digital inclusion due to access to technology and internet connectivity, lack of digital skills, and language barriers.
