The Special Olympics Australia National Winter Games are on at Mt Buller and here's a sneak peek from the spectacular Opening Ceremony yesterday! It snowed, our athletes wowed the crowd and the Cauldron was lit to officially open the Games by our good friends at Law Enforcement Torch Run. Bags are packed, trailers are loaded and today athletes and officials are travelling to Mt Buller in preparation for one of the biggest events on our Wintersport calendar - the Special Olympics Australia National Winter Games. Tomorrow, there'll be a fantastic Opening Ceremony, including a Torch Run, Parade of Athletes, Oaths and lighting of the Cauldron, followed by competition where athletes will be vying to represent Australia at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy, March 2025. Special Olympics Australia is excited to launch a new online course - Teaching Physical Education (PE) to Students with Intellectual Disability and Autism. This course is for Physical Education and classroom teachers and is now LIVE! In just 10 days, 37 athletes with intellectual disability/autism will hit the slopes in Mt Buller (VIC) for the Special Olympics Australia National Winter Games. From these Games athletes will be selected to represent Australia at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy - 8-17 March 2025.
