Friday Arts … Springboard Opera had its first night out a-month-and-a-bit ago. The first Springboard Opera Thing! And this is what it looked like on the night… https://lnkd.in/gWzHSiA4 The first ever Springboard Opera Gala in fabulous Brisbane. And in the spirit of doing it differently, it was opera, but not opera. Some, but not all, of the Springboard Opera young (and talented) human beans were introduced to Brisbane in a fabulous star-studded night of music, theatre and general cool-ness. If you missed out, you’ll have to wait for the next Springboard Thing. And because no man is an island – thanks for the words, John Donne – we are not so much creating an arts organisation as a 21st century Arts Ecosystem that thrives on innovation. Ecosystems imply lots of interconnectedness. Between all the parts. Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. So the innovation needs to flow Side-to-Side and Front-to-Back. And to make this work, all those parts matter equally. One of the things that was said at the Gala was “Singing optional”. That is because we need skills and INNOVATION everywhere. And with that – a bit of fractured Dr Suess, this time – Oh, the places We’ll go! If you are up for a bit of Amaze-balls stuff… Come down and see us at https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg – it is going to be WILD! Singing Optional. #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife

Friday Arts … the world is still not improving, so let’s keep talking about other things that are more fun! Springboard Opera had its first night out last weekend. And what a night it was. There is so much noise out there is SM land that it is really hard to focus. I look for the things that are new, have fresh ideas or are focussed on creating a better way. And so much of it is not that. All the stuff that the world has gone thru’ in the last few years … well, it has just created a whole new way of thinking. We were all on this path before the world was blessed with the Covid Storm. Technology has changed our world forever, everyone and everything is connected, we are empowered and enabled to be heard and seen like never before. But with that has come something else. A recognition that life is not just about work. Work is undoubtedly an integral part of life, but not the only part. In 2024, there are lots of other things that feed into “well rounded life”. Community is important. Mindfulness, Wellness and mental health are important. The Arts in general are places that you can find these things. Springboard Opera specifically is where you can find these things. Because as well as being about supporting emerging artists in Brisvegas, it is about community (… see above…) It is about being part of the Brisbane community and making a worthwhile contribution to everyone in our city. Like we say… singing optional! If you are living in 2024, and need something more, jump over to https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg and join the conversation. It is going to be good for you and good for us! #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #YourNetworkForLife Luisa Tarnawski Leslie Martin Gheorja Haidley

Friday Arts … the news is still depressing, so let’s keep talking about other things… The Springboard Thing! The visible face of the Springboard Thing is what you see us doing. ...Barefoot Opera in 2023; And if you are part of The Brisbane Club community, the two events so far and a recent event at Tattersalls in the city also. If you missed these events, the BIG ONE that is still coming is the first EVER Springboard Opera Gala on 29 June. Check it out here - https://lnkd.in/gWvq4UiA – you really need to be there! But there is another part of The Springboard Thing – one that is not so visible. So here we go! The not-so-secret-Quokka (we are, after all, Australian) part of The Springboard Thing. The culture … Which is what the Springboard Opera Adventurers are working hrd on at the moment. As we all know, the fish rots from the head first. But in the true spirit of C21, this represents an opportunity as well as a threat. The board is imposing the same requirements of innovation, challenging the paradigm as pushing the envelope on itself. One of the questions that is exercising our collective board-mind is whether, when looking for new directors, we can find a different way. So, CAN you job-share a directorship, for busy professionals, who have other things to do as well as Transforming the Opera Idea in their spare time? This is Springboard Opera. And this is re-inventing the Opera Idea from the inside out. So come down and see us at https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg – it is going to be WILD! #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife Luisa Tarnawski Leslie Martin Gheorja Haidley

Want to have a good time for a great cause? Have we got the event for you. On the 29th of June, Springboard Opera will be holding our inaugural Fundraising Gala, and we want to see you there. And yes...that is Puccini wearing sunglasses and holding a champagne glass. We think he would approve. For full details head to the website link in the event. P.S. If you've never experienced live opera before, this is a great event for you. You can have a nibble, enjoy a drink or two and let our performers turn you into an opera lover! But be warned, opera is addictive and you will be looking for more.

Friday Arts … Something other than today’s headlines about former US Prez’s… Point of Difference. What is it that separates Springboard Opera from a hundred other small arts organisations? And why would anyone pay attention to this little band of Arts Adventurers from Brisbane? What is The Springboard Thing? (Apart from the fact that Brisbane is WHERE IT IS AT in the Oz Arts Scene…) The answer is this… We are doing The Arts differently. Having no baggage to carry, we start with a clean slate. And picking up the best of everything that we see. If we can use it to get us to our goals, it is fair game. We do not say that the artists are at the centre of everything, or that the business model is at the centre of everything, or that funders are our key focus. For us everything is connected and so… Everything is at the centre of Everything. Very Quantum Multiverse and Dr Who – we’ll accept that – but it does open up a universe of possibilities for Springboard. To Transform the Opera Idea, probably in ways that no-one has imagined yet. And that is the Springboard Point of Difference. The dusty old paradigm that is Opera needs to be busted wide open and re-built. From Back to Front and Top to Bottom. And in the process, create a sustainable and viable path for emerging Queensland Opera Artists. Who have that Springboard Thing going on… This is Springboard Opera. If The Springboard Thing grabs your interest, come and see it in action! We are going public on 29 June in the heart of Brisbane with a fabulous and stylish Opera Gala. Get all the details here -->> https://lnkd.in/getQSPPu But being The Springboard Thing, it would be best to park your prior expectations outside… #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #Performingarts #YourNetworkForLife

Springboard Opera, the coolest arts startup on the Brisbane scene, is ready to meet the world… An arts lunch at The Brisbane Club, Brisbane’s premier Business and Arts Club was our first foray into the world. At the Brisbane Club, the intersection of Arts and Business in the Rivercity. And as we all know, Brisvegas … the exploding arts heartland in Oz! It was really appropriate that the Brisbane Club was the venue. The guiding words for Springboard are Supporting emerging artists & Transforming the Opera Idea. Transforming the Opera Idea is about re-invention, innovation and all those other really cool C21 words that we talk about so much. And for Springboard, that means transforming the back end of the arts as much as the front end. And why would we try any other way? If we are serious about sustainability (which we are…) and credibility with all our stakeholders (ditto…), and properly supporting our amazing emerging Queensland Artists, well, the transformation needs to go right across the organisation. Or, in the case of Springboard, we have set ourselves up in the way we intend to continue. From the book-keeping to front-of-house, from the board to the volunteers at the workface, we are going to do it differently. There is not enough space here to tell the whole story. If you want to see us in action or get involved with something big, check out our events page. This is Springboard Opera … if you’re up for a 21st century adventure, up for creating something new, exciting and paradigm-busting to support young people, jump over to our website https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg, and get involved. Friday Arts. Here at Springboard Opera, we are about Supporting Emerging Artists. But we also hang our hat on innovation … as in Transforming the Opera Idea. And for us, the first step in Supporting Emerging Artists was, well… To ask them. What THEY need to get themselves started. We get that they are new graduates, putting their best foot out for the first step in a long career path. And they may not actually know what they practically need to get up and running. But then again, they might. They are part of the most educated and empowered generation ever. And they have the tools. So, as well as engaging with the knowledge and experience of those who have gone before, we are asking them, one of our big stakeholders. We may even ask our other big stakeholders, some of whom may not be singers. But they might help us to Support our amazing Emerging Artists and on the way, Transform the Opera Idea! Because this is the Springboard Way. This is Springboard Opera … if you’re up for a 21st century adventure, up for creating something new, exciting and paradigm-busting to support young people, jump over to our website https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg, and get involved. What is the point of the Arts? Is it a waste of time and financial in 2024? Or do the arts make a valuable contribution to Australian (and human) society generally? IMHO the evidence is already in, if you like looking at a bit of history. The arts have always been there, and even when they are oppressed, they survive. In times of war, aggressors like to steal the artworks of the countries they invade, and societies go to great lengths to hide and protect the same art works from aggressors. Indigenous communities around the world rely so heavily on their arts, their songs, ceremony, their painting and manual arts. And have for millennia. Human beans are driven by creativity. And in 2024, well, the human beans are looking for more. Work / life is out of balance in so many ways. Evidently, the free-market economy and globalisation is leaving vast numbers of people behind, and they are hurting. Many people – those both hurting as well as those lucky enough to not be hurting - are realising that its NOT just the economy… There is so much more to “it” than that. And in the C21 world, where there is so much hurting, the arts have a huge value. Both financial value and wider social value. And what has this to do with the world of business in 2024? Well, the arts play into the work / life balance discussion, and if the evidence is right, getting that right leads to happier and more engaged employees who are more productive and … profitable. So, everyone wins! And I don’t have space here for the discussion about the arts and mental health. But I am happy to do that another time. The world is an amazing place, and (to badly misquote…) it’s not just the economy, stupid. Jump over to https://lnkd.in/gXgNVTGg to see what we are doing and how WE are adding value in the 21st century … maybe even become a friend of ours! It is so worth the effort! #Future #TransformationalLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Directors #Technology #YourNetworkForLife #PerformingArts Leslie Martin Luisa Tarnawski Gheorja Haidley
