It's National Farm Safety Week and we are shining a light on one of our project landowners Simon McAulay Powell. Simon has been a cattle grazier on his property in Central Queensland for nearly 25 years. "Particularly in terms of bushfire safety, the project’s access roads serve as really effective fire breaks and also make it easier and safer for us to move around the property." #ACES2024 has kicked off in Sydney and our CEO Rob Wheals was pleased to participate in the leaders panel to explore the current state of Australia's energy transition, including the emerging challenges and opportunities for a decarbonised energy sector. We know the transition to renewable energy is well underway and we know now is the time to do the heavy lifting and stay the course. We also know that creating a lasting economic legacy for the regions in which we develop and operate renewable energy assets is just as important as the infrastructure itself. As a sector we must ensure we continue to deliver and improve on our community benefit initiatives that support our communities over the long term. Squadron Energy is also proud to sponsor two female graduates to attend the conference as part of the Clean Energy Council's Women in Renewables Career Launcher initiative, Hannah Cho from Macquarie University and Sara Venkatesan from the University of Queensland.

Great to join Dr Adrian Panow and Erin Coldham at Australia Wind Energy 2024 to discuss the critical role that wind energy will play in our transition to net zero. We know the transition to renewable energy is well underway. AEMO’s roadmap confirms we are on the right path with wind the dominant technology driving the energy transition to renewables. But we need to do the hard yards now and focus on the key factors to success: ensuring we earn our social licence, address rising costs and be innovative in the way that we deliver these critical infrastructure projects. #AuWE2024

“LNG import terminals can supply cheaper gas from global markets when pricing is weak during the northern hemisphere summer, right as demand is peaking in the Australian winter,” according to Squadron Energy CEO Rob Wheals. Our Port Kembla Energy Terminal is nearing completion and will have the capacity to supply 500TJ of gas daily - enough to meet nearly all of NSW’s gas needs on a peak day. “The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) 2024 Integrated System Plan reaffirms the comprehensive planning and implementation done to date on our transitioning energy system," according to Squadron Energy CEO Rob Wheals. “To not continue this journey would waste billions in investment, place our energy security at risk and deny a huge opportunity to share economic development across many regional communities of Australia."
