Overnight I received a message of gratitude from another Engineer with a building construction background - not to big note, however they commented "Honestly Wes, you are the best recruiter I have ever met - so patient and informative, thank you". 😊 Earlier this year, I received similar praise but from a much younger Engineer who approached me. He was appreciative that I took the time to review his resume and not dismiss him as he had experienced with others. Although his work experience as a recent Civil Engineer graduate was brief, he had appropriate qualifications, only a couple of internships (in a foreign market) but his attitude and desire was spot on - sometimes difficult to find nowadays. Moments like these put a smile on my face that my stakeholders (candidates or clients) have a great experience - regardless of the end result. Even though I'm an old fashioned "recruiter" trying to keep up with changes in tech etc., I stay true to my values which I can control - Always get back to people and encourage clients to provide interview feedback, maintain relationships and give people in my target geographical and industry market a chance - experienced or otherwise.
