Xandar Kardian Inc.'s technology has potentially saved the life of a police detainee in custody, in yet another example of the solution's impact in correctional facilities. The Taronga Ventures portfolio company recently deployed its radar-based health monitoring system with the Regina Police Service in Saskatchewan, Canada to monitor the health and wellbeing of detainees. This innovative technology that detects breathing and heart rates identified a detainee in distress, enabling an immediate and potentially life-saving intervention. Critical instances like these underscore the vital role that Xandar Kardian's solutions play in enhancing safety and ensuring timely medical responses. “From the moment we integrated Xandar Kardian's radar-based sensors, we observed a transformative impact on our operations. Within the first 48 hours, the technology detected a critical, potentially life-threatening condition in one of our detainees, enabling our staff to intervene just in time. This incident alone exemplifies how essential such innovative monitoring solutions are in a custodial setting. They are not merely enhancing our operational efficiency; they're crucial in safeguarding human lives. This technology ensures we are equipped to handle emergencies with the urgency and care they require.” - Pierre Beauchesne, Staff Sgt., Regina Police Service Read the case study: https://lnkd.in/gpgZt_nB GT Global Services #XandarKardian #correctionalhealth #healthtech #innovation #sensors

How much carbon is associated with one parcel delivery? A study conducted by University of Melbourne and Groundfloor™ Parcel Lockers quantified the ESG benefits of one of the most popular commercial office amenities - smart parcel lockers. Our Director of ESG & Sustainability, Rebecca Jinks, said "Increasingly, commercial offices are turning to technology to deliver sustainability benefits to their portfolio. Commercial properties are expanding their remit on sustainability to include initiatives that reduce scope 2 and 3 emissions." Russell Thompson, professor in the Department of Infrastructure at the University of Melbourne said “Our study showed that... if parcel lockers were installed in all loading docks of commercial towers this could reduce vehicle kilometres travelled by couriers by around 50 per cent. This would provide substantial productivity gains for couriers as well as reduced emissions and congestion in the CBD." The study highlights the opportunity for commercial offices and precincts to explore parcel lockers as a sustainable solution to reduce scope 3 emissions. The social and community elements have long been the foundation of thriving real asset developments. Today, the concept of ‘Social’ in ESG is evolving and gaining traction in the real asset sector. Understanding ‘Social Value’ in practical terms and what’s expected in measurement, evaluation, and reporting is becoming increasingly important for developers. In this article, Guy Battle, CEO of Social Value Portal (a Taronga Ventures portfolio company), discusses how today's developers and investors are starting to recognise the importance of Social Value and the role it plays across the asset lifecycle. The article 'Creating Social Value across the asset lifecycle' explores: - What Social Value means in practice - How Social Value can be delivered across the asset lifecycle, from construction to management and occupancy - Methods for measuring and reporting - How to avoid 'value washing' - Examples of how asset owners have analysed, monitored and amplified Social Value across their assets, and the results achieved Emphasising Social Value not only enhances community engagement but also contributes to sustainable and successful developments. There are roughly 150 fatal accidents and 100,000 serious injuries in the Australian workplace each year, with vehicle-related accidents causing roughly 65% of all workplace fatalities. Sydney Trains deployed Presien’s AI vision system to reduce the risk of workers being struck by mobile plant during maintenance operations and to enhance safety awareness. Presien's AI vision system, Blindsight, creates alerts for potentially dangerous situations around heavy machinery and automated health and safety reports for worker safety on construction and infrastructure sites. “When working in track possessions, the major risk is not from trains but being struck by mobile plant and equipment moving around on site. We’d been hunting for a safety solution for some time. We didn’t just buy into the tech stack from Presien, but the team behind it. Their experience in computer vision and machine learning was key to ensuring the AI vision was fully customised to our sites. At the trial’s onset, 40 – 50% of interactions were deemed unsafe. However, over the year, this dramatically decreased to around 3% percent. This reduction reflects both system improvements and enhanced safety awareness among our workers.” - Works Management Lead, Major Works Division, Sydney Trains Read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/gFHdi27d #workplacesafety #infrastructure #computervision
