About us

The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) is the national peak body for the crane industry in Australia. CICA represents over 700 members, including company owners, original equipment manufacturers, rigging equipment retailers, CraneSafe Assessors, and other industry service providers. CICA was formed in 1980 with the objective of providing ‘one voice’ on matters of mutual concern to the Australian crane industry and has branches that operate in every state or territory in Australia. CICA provide the opportunity for owners, marketers and end users to come together through conferences, seminars, meetings and united efforts to represent and progress the industry nationally. Through liaising with crane owners, hirers, operators, construction companies, government and regulatory bodies as well as other establishments affiliated with cranes and their use – CICA seeks to improve crane usage, efficiency, and safety outcomes.

  • Join the conversation and share your thoughts on proposed improvements to crane licensing in Australia. The six key proposals for changes to the licensing framework are; 1. Organising licences by function rather than lifting capacity  2. Practical experience for crane operators  3. Introducing new licences for telehandlers, piling rigs and straddle carriers.  4. Structural changes to align training to specific skills and crane functions, including by Incorporating some existing licences into other licence categories.  5. A prerequisite training course for anyone operating cranes on a vessel over water, and   6. Improving the rigging licence framework to correct incongruities and reflect contemporary work practices and equipment Detailed information for each of those proposals can be found in the full discussion paper below, and we strongly suggest all of our members take the time to carefully consider them. https://lnkd.in/g_txnqfF Submissions are open until 11:59 (AEST) on Wednesday, 31 July. Use the link below to directly access the feedback submission form using Safe Work Australia's Consultation Hub. https://lnkd.in/gae8VZVT

  • It was a full house in Melbourne at CICA’s Cranes in Wind Forum. The Cranes in Wind Forum saw local, interstate, and international representation on the stage and at the tables; all bringing a collective wealth of experience. From regional differences in wind farm design and how they dictate functional requirements from a manufacturing perspective to open conversations about success, failure and transparency - the scope and quality of knowledge shared was enormous. We’d like to thank our presenters, panelists, and attendees. The success of the day came from your willingness to engage, to share, and to contribute. #CICA #CranesInWind
