While HR opportunities have cooled (down 28.9% from last year's record highs), Australia’s job market has avoided the deep freeze many feared at the start of 2024. There's a sense of cautious optimism amongst both organisations and job seekers. Despite downward pressure on budgets, companies are still focused on delivery, productivity and preparing for change. Staffing needs persist, but we're seeing a more conservative approach to hiring, with employers often seeking candidates who precisely match their requirements. We're noticing increased interest from candidates exploring new roles after a period of limited opportunities, often aiming to boost their remuneration in response to cost-of-living pressures. Flexibility remains crucial, but there's a push from employers to bring more people back to the office - sometimes a sticking point in employment negotiations. Want to know more?
