Creating a single integrated network accessible to everyone.

About us

We are a department of more than 8,800 employees across the state. Our vision is to create a single integrated network accessible to everyone. No department has a bigger role to play in keeping the Queensland of today moving, or in helping build for the future. Each year we have more than 3.6 million face-to-face interactions with Queenslanders and more than 6.7 million transactions using online service channels. We are responsible for around 80 percent of all government counter transactions. We are an exciting place to work, with an enormous scope of work incorporating 79 different occupational areas. Every day Queenslanders rely on the transport network to get them to work, to school, and to health care. As the most decentralised state in Australia, transport is a key driver of economic growth, and we are at the front line of planning, developing and maintaining the extensive network required to keep Queensland moving. We lead emerging technologies so our transport network meets the needs of our customers now and into the future. We deliver our core business through four key services: • Transport system investment planning and programming – focused on developing policy frameworks for the future development of the transport system and to plan and prioritise strategic investment in effective, efficient and sustainable integrated transport infrastructure, systems and services • Transport infrastructure management and delivery – focused on constructing, maintaining, managing and operating an integrated transport network accessible to all • Transport safety, regulation and customer service – focused on improving customer service and managing and regulating the transport system safely, economically and sustainably and without imposing unnecessary red tape • Passenger transport services – focused on leading and shaping Queensland’s overall passenger transport system. Ultimately, we bring Queensland closer together.

  • Ever wondered how we explore underground before building a major rail line? 🚂 Geotechnical investigations are now underway for the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project with the arrival of our drill rig! After we carefully transport this heavy machinery to site, our team collects samples to help us better understand what’s below 🔍 These samples are tested to help us in designing a rail line that’s safe, sustainable, and tailored to our unique Sunshine Coast geology. • We are continuing to upgrade the Isis Highway (locally known as Childers Road)! 📢 The Isis Highway in the Wide Bay Burnett District is about to reach the next stage. As part of the High Risk Roads Program and Targeted Road Safety Program, the next stage of work includes construction of service roads along the Isis Highway (between Bundaberg Ring Road to Park Estate Drive), pavement rehabilitation, road widening and intersection improvements. Works are expected to commence from September 2024 and are likely to continue into early 2026 (weather and conditions permitting). These improvements will provide safer access for residents, enhance rideability, and reduce the likelihood and risk of head-on crashes, delivering positive impacts for the community. 🙌 #QLDRoads #WideBayBurnett For more information, visit the project page: https://brnw.ch/21wM4nW The project is fully funded by the Queensland Government.

  • Building Queensland's future together. Our Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) 2024-25 to 2027-28 is a state-wide $37.4 billion program delivered over the next four years. This investment will support an average of 28,000 jobs over that period, unlocking new opportunities, and driving economic growth across Queensland. Partnerships are critical to making this happen. We know we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re committed to working closely with industry and businesses to deliver a safe, reliable, and future-proof transport network. On August 6, we hosted the 2024 QTRIP Industry Briefing, where more than 470 industry representatives joined us via livestream. The session covered upcoming rail and road projects in all Queensland regions, disaster recovery works, our planning and rail infrastructure programs, along with an update on our collaborative procurement practices. If you missed the briefing, you can access the recordings and presentation slides on the QTRIP website until late September. Don’t miss this chance to explore how your business can get involved in shaping Queensland’s transport future. The concrete pour marks the first major above ground works on the Gold Coast Highway, with rail works underway in the Nobby Beach-Miami area. In total, 28km of rail will be installed along the Stage 3 route from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, with 14km expected to be in place by the end of 2024. Rail tracks will continue to be installed in sections for the remainder of this year and into 2025. • Marine officers team up to rescue injured skipper 🌊🚤 "It felt great to assist our community in a positive way and achieve a safe outcome," – Josh, MSQ Marine Officer MSQ Marine Officers recently worked with the Queensland Water Police and a paramedic to rescue a distressed skipper with a dislocated shoulder aboard a sailing vessel. During a routine patrol, two of our marine officers received an urgent call to assist in a vessel in distress, whose solo master had been injured. MSQ's Marine Officers boarded the vessel, assisted in stabilising the patient and then sailed the vessel across Cleveland Bay to Townsville's Breakwater Marina. The rescue mission took a little over three hours, where an ambulance met the vessel on arrival and transported the injured sailor to hospital.
