'Navigating the TAC' was the theme of a recent talk to the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Barwon. Three client specialists spoke to the group about the background of the TAC and how we support our clients. Topics covered included the TAC's role and background, the claims lodgement process, TAC client entitlements, mental health treatment plans, our Clinical Framework, use of outcome measures and invoicing. "We appreciated the opportunity to present to APS Barwon Branch members and help explain the TAC claims process, the Clinical Framework and how to complete a mental health treatment plan. It was a great opportunity to discuss how to best support TAC clients," said the TAC's Louise Groves Pictured below - Dr Frances D'Arcy-Tehan, Dr Nathan Castle, Dr Mari Molloy, Dr Tania Gibbie, TAC's Narelle Holland and Louise Groves #TACVictoria #mentalhealth #ourclients #psychology #healthcare

We promote road safety and support those who have been injured on our roads.
About us
The TAC is working towards zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads. A Victorian Government-owned organisation, our role is to pay for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents and to promote road safety. The TAC is a no-fault scheme where medical benefits are paid to an injured person - regardless of who caused the accident. This is funded by vehicle registration payments Victorian motorists make each year to VicRoads. Payments and conditions are guided by the Transport Accident Act 1986. According to our latest research, an alarming 1 in 5 Victorians are driving very tired, so tired they cannot open their eyes. The TAC Road Safety Monitor, which surveyed 2339 Victorians on their road safety attitudes and behaviours, also found that almost two-thirds (65%) of people drove ‘quite tired’ – including a 21 % proportion who drove ‘very tired’. Tired drivers contribute 16-20 % of fatal crashes on Victorian roads each year and account for about 25 % of road trauma injuries at @The Alfred and @Royal Melbourne hospitals. “Tired driving is a factor in around 30 Victorian road deaths each year, so we need to be able to identify when we aren’t safe to drive and find alternatives to getting behind the wheel,” said TAC CEO Tracey Slatter. “Our message is that drowsy driving is a danger to everyone who shares the road, not just you, so please rest up and get more than five hours’ sleep before driving.” Find out all the insights from the Road Safety Monitor here - https://lnkd.in/gnqeCDkX See important tips from Clare Anderson, whose research with Monash University contributed to the recent TAC Fatigue campaign below. #TACVictoria #roadsafety #roadsafetyawareness #researd #data #drowsydriving

A coronial report from earlier this year has strongly discouraged motorcycle riders from wearing open-face motorbike helmets. The recommendation comes after the death of a motorcyclist following head injuries caused by a crash. The report called out the vital role that motorcycle protective clothing plays in keeping Victorian riders safe including the importance of wearing full-face motorbike helmets to protect the jaw, face and brain. The video below incorporates the expert insights of Executive General Manager Road Safety Samantha Cockfield and Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) Dr Andrew McIntosh. It demonstrates the superiority of full-face motorcycle helmets in protecting a rider’s head and potentially saving lives. #TACVictoria #roadsafetyawareness #roadsafety #coronialinquest #motorbikes #motorcycles #helmets

Hundreds of people attended our recent webinar co-hosted with Engineers Australia as part of the Thought Leaders Series: Beyond Traditional Design- A Blueprint for Safer Roads. The webinar forms part of our Future Road Competition which aims to increase understanding and education of the Safe System approach to road safety in tertiary education. The Safe System model is key to seeing positive change on our roads. Panel members from the TAC, Transurban, University of Adelaide and Ausroads Traffic Management explored the Safe System and how building capacity in the industry can see positive change on our roads to reduce road trauma. Attendees included university lecturers, engineering students and industry members. Thank you to the panel members, Samantha Cockfield Liz Waller, Jeremy Woolley, Matin Nabavi Niaki for sharing their expertise and insights into the future of road design. Congratulations to the winners in this year's TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town awards - Bendigo, Daylesford and Timboon, announced at the recent Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) awards ceremony. Bendigo was named this year’s TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town (population over 5,000), while Daylesford took the win for the Top Small Tourism Town Award (population between 1,500 and 5,000) and Timboon won Gold for the Top Tiny Tourism Town Award (population under 1,500). Speaking at the awards, TAC Head of Community Jacqui Sampson said the TAC was proud to continue its support of the Victorian Top Tourism Awards and the industry's promotion of road safety across Victoria. "With fatigue a major contributing factor to road trauma in Victoria, our partnership with VTIC is an important platform to engage with people travelling throughout the state about the dangers of drowsy driving," she said. The three Victorian gold winners will now compete for the title of Australia’s Top Tourism Town in their respective categories. This will be announced on the 10th of September at Parliament House, Canberra. Pictured below - Top Tourism Town winners Bendigo and Tiny Town Gold award Timboon.
