Did you hear? Wave Swell took our Tasmania’s project of the year at the Engineers Australia awards for our wave energy demonstration on King Island. This recognition means a lot to our team. It’s not possible to develop a quality, durable and reliable wave energy converter without the best engineering, as any shortcuts will be exposed by the harsh marine environment. Wave Swell’s prototype Uniwave device was developed with support from experts at the Australian Maritime College, built in Northern Tasmania and installed at King Island by local skilled workers. Great to see Federal and State support building in the USA for including marine energy in their mix of renewables. Wave Swell was delighted to be invited to participate in the California Energy Commission hosted Public Workshop on 8 August 2024, in which the Commission updated on their work under Senate Bill.605, assessing the feasibility of harvesting marine energy in California and identifying suitable sea space for projects. The 4th "International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) - Charting the Course Towards Resilient Prosperity" is taking place this month. This once-per-decade conference, overseen by the United Nations, will help determine strategy and policy aimed at addressing critical issues facing SIDS, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation.
