Safety and Compliance training can be difficult to attach any real $$ value to until the worst happens, and mistakes are made that can shut a business down, damage its reputation, put the lives of its people at risk, or worse. Learners don’t want the same old tired content rolled out year after year. It doesn’t work and it doesn’t need to be this way. Our bespoke approach ensures that learning lines up perfectly with the audience in a way that they understand, transfer into their daily duties and even enjoy themselves on the way. As we’ve seen recently, compliance doesn’t guarantee safety, and safety won’t guarantee compliance. They both connect to each other, and we’ve been working in all industries and verticals across the world for the last 25 years delivering exceptional solutions and results that follow. Ask us how and we will be happy to tell you how this can be done! www.wavelengthlearning.com

In 2022, I was lucky enough to lead the writing of "Earth Dreamers: responding with hope to the climate crisis" for the Ministry of Education through Cognition Learning Group Yesterday it went live on Tāhūrangi, https://lnkd.in/gV5A9Sxp Earth Dreamers is a teaching resource for Year 7-8 in English medium that focuses on unpacking the new social sciences learning area. Please share it widely with your teaching networks. The four suggested inquiry pathways for robust learning reflect the richness and complexities of the climate crisis, regeneration and sustainability. Inquiry one explores different worldviews and orientations to nature and how the dominant values that underpin these relationships also underpin the crisis. Inquiry two explores connections between advertising, consumerism, planetary limits, economic models and wellbeing. Inquiry three centres on environmental activism and social justice in the Pacific. Inquiry Four focuses on food, culture, connection, systems of production and kai resilience. It was informed by an amazing group of thought leaders - Pounamu Skelton Tumu Whakarae of Hua Parakore for Te Waka Kai Ora, Chris Eames , Associate Professor in Environmental and Science Education Research Centre at University of Waikato, Aigagalefili Fepulea’i - Tapua’i Pacific climate activist and Laura Kearney, then outreach manager from the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre. The brilliant Deb Lean from Akaroa Area School provided teacher voice, Basil Keane gifted the mihi whakatau, Simon Chiaroni did the sharp edit, Rachel Bolstad reviewed it and Gavin Mouldey, did the stunning illustrations. Please share widely.

Anthony Schoch dropped some truth bombs about e-learning design that got us thinking. Anthony shared a story about a course so packed with clickable stuff, it left learners feeling lost. Sound familiar? At Wavelength Learning, we're all about making e-learning that actually works. Here's what we've learned: 1.     Start with "What do learners need?" not "What cool tech can we use?" 2.    Keep it real - make sure content relates to the real world 3.    Use interactivity to help learning, not just for show 4.    Listen to feedback and keep improving We're curious - how do you balance cool design with solid content in your e-learning projects? As AI and other tech keeps advancing, where do you see this heading? Drop your thoughts below! Let's chat about creating e-learning that learners actually want to use (and maybe even enjoy 😉). #eLearningDoneRight #InstructionalDesign #LearningTech

Learning Designer & Trainer | Digital Learning | 🚀 Using innovation to maximize the impact of corporate training

𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. 💡 This taught me a crucial lesson: adding lots of interactivity doesn’t make a design good. Rather, good and effective instructional design requires : • Focusing on the needs and goals of the learner • Crafting well-defined learning goals that are measurable and achievable • Aligning activities with learning objectives • Making content relevant to the learner’s real-world needs • Using interactivity to promote purposeful engagement, not distraction • Managing cognitive load • Continuously testing and improving based on feedback and performance New, flashy AI-powered tools can be tempting. They offer innovative ways to present content and interact with learners. But without a solid instructional design foundation, they risk becoming superficial distractions. To avoid the trap of 'clicky-clicky bling-bling', Camille Bean, in her book The Accidental Instructional Designer, suggests strategies which I've summarized in this carrousel 👇 How do you balance engaging design with meaningful content in your e-learning projects?

Ever wondered what a Learning Experience Designer does? 🤔 Let's break it down! A Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is like an architect for education. We design and build learning experiences that help people gain new skills and knowledge effectively. Here's what we do: 1.     Understand the learners: We figure out who needs to learn what and why. 2.    Set clear goals: We define what success looks like for each learning experience. 3.    Create a learning journey: We map out the path learners will take to reach their goals. 4.    Develop engaging content: We craft materials that make learning interesting and memorable. 5.    Choose the right tools: We select the best methods and technologies to deliver the content. 6.    Design activities: We create exercises that help learners practice and apply what they've learned. 7.    Evaluate and improve: We gather feedback and data to continuously enhance the learning experience. In essence, we're problem-solvers who blend education, psychology, and technology to create learning experiences that stick. 🧠💡 Whether it's an online course, a training program, or an educational app, LXDs are behind the scenes, making sure learning is effective, engaging, and enjoyable. What's your experience with learning design? Have you noticed great (or not-so-great) examples in your own learning journey? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #LearningExperienceDesign #eLearning #InstructionalDesign #EdTech

The Design Education System is Failing Talented Designers . I've written an MBJ Manifesto and would like to share some key insights. . The design education industry is at a tricky crossroads, threatened by AI and outdated practices. The next generation of designers faces an uncertain future unless we act now. . Designers teaching designers is great, but it often overlooks the most crucial person—the client. We've realised we were part of the problem and sought new perspectives by learning from industries like coaching and hospitality. . At MBJ, we are revolutionising design education by involving clients. No more one-size-fits-all. It's time to focus on one size fits one. . We are shifting from sales techniques to client experience and relationship building. Designers must learn from their clients and understand their unique needs and journeys. This is how to prepare designers for the real world. . 👇🏻 For the full video, check out the link in the comments . Let's embrace adaptability, celebrate creativity, and build meaningful client relationships. . Have a fantastic day! #design #designer #creativity #resilience #innovation

Wavelength had a great day filming with The Co-operative Bank to design some awesome customer conversations videos. This mahi is just a small part of a larger suite of learning resources to support employees on the job. It's been an awesome collaboration between both learning teams, and we can't wait for the launch! 🥳

After 2 years of hard work and #collaboration, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Assistive Technology Training Modules.   These modules are designed to make it easier for #manufacturers to: 1. Understand how to enter the Assistive Technology Market 2. Learn how to co-design with users and the #health sector. They also provide a framework for #educators to teach these #skills.   We couldn't be more proud of this accomplishment and are grateful for the support and expertise of our partners the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, Brite Services , DPV Health, Kangan Institute, Swinburne University of Technology and Wavelength Learning. Director ANZ @ Wavelength Learning

I’m back home after a very successful Viva Tech Paris where Wavelength Learning and a few other Kiwi businesses had four days at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) pavilion. Over 120,000 people walked the biggest expo floor I’ve ever seen and true to its name the event was the Mecca of technology. The main points I’m leaving with have all surprised me. 1.     New Zealand is a very popular country! People searched for and found our stand just to say hello and how much the loved NZ. This started some of our best conversations of the event and has generated follow up meetings all around the world. As a Kiwi living in Aus for the last 12 years I was starting to forget how awesome NZ really is.   2.     In a room brimming with the latest tech, virtually every person we spoke to loved that we put people and learners and the forefront of what we do and wanted to talk more about this than tech. Once we spoke to our approach and that it means we need to be able to work in any technology and in any platform, they introduced us to projects on their horizon. We spoke with people from all around the world and it’s clear that businesses are understanding that when the technology matches it will be their ability to empower their people to tell their stories that will define their success.   3.     AI fatigue is real thing. People from fortune 500 companies told us they are sick of AI and didn’t want to talk about it at all. Some were even leaving the conference early to get away from it. While we did see some innovations that looked incredible (particularly with environmental sustainability) and there are uses for it in what we do, it is not the panacea for good learning in the world we live in doesn’t appear that it will be any time soon. True to this, I have written this without the use of our GPT friend and I'd welcome a chat with anyone wanting to know more!
