Congratulations to Nancy Tingey on her wonderful retrospective exhibition at Strathnairn Arts of over 60 years of work and, writes curator Jacqueline Schultz, an ‘artful life’. Nancy was a long term Craft + Design Canberra member, a 1996 Churchill Fellow Winston Churchill Trust (Australia) and she also opened her beautiful home and garden for us during the 2020 DESIGNCanberra festival - so lots of lovely common threads weaving across our community and our lives. It was great to catch up briefly with Nancy before the exhibition closed today. Congratulations to all involved, and the many lucky buyers of these beautiful works. 💛

New Report spotlight 🌟 Tom Linnell is a passionate sustainability educator for a more ecologically oriented future. Knowing the important role that education has on shaping tomorrow’s decision makers, Tom visited Northern Europe to understand more about the intersection between education and the circular economy. 🌍🌿 The Fellowship experience enabled Tom access to classrooms, schools, universities, not-for-profit organisations, education consultants, Local, State and National levels of Government, funding bodies, artist studios, community gardens, recycling centres, co-ops and even a climate activism gathering. Tom's Fellowship concluded that interdisciplinary collaboration should be promoted, sustainability needs to be incorporated into education, and environmental, social and economic modelling should be strengthened in school communities. New Fellowship Report spotlight  🌟 Mark Champley is an advocate for First Nation Australians. His Churchill Fellowship focused on learning and sharing knowledge through reverse mentoring to support reconciliation. His research identified four main ways cultural psychologists use interventions to decrease discrimination and prejudice between different cultural groups: ► Stimulating intergroup contact 🤝 ► Changing social norms 📣 ► Sharing knowledge about discrimination 📚 ► Increasing empathy via perspective-taking 💡 Join us in celebrating Mark's work! The 2024 Churchill Fellowship interviews have officially concluded 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to our 159 volunteer panel members for their time and expertise over the past few weeks. This year, we had an incredible pool of applicants and were delighted to see a 12% increase in applications. A total of 172 applicants were interviewed across the country.
