We are excited to announce a new partnership with Yandina Station that will take weddings on the Sunshine Coast to new heights. The partnership is part of our growth plans and efforts to collaborate with the broader SE Queensland tourism industry. In June, we were part of the sod turning to mark the beginning of construction at the Sunshine Coast Aerospace Precinct expansion at Sunshine Coast Airport. More recently, we've loved working closely with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), Visit Sunshine Coast and Tourism and Events Queensland to promote the South East to media and travel trade. Yandina Station is set on 217 acres west of Coolum and Noosa beaches. It’s home to three cottages for on-site accommodation, an events venue for up to 180 guests seated. “We’re delighted to work with OceanView Helicopters who understand what our guests need when it comes to weddings,” said Justin Lippiatt, General Manager at Yandina Station. “We’ve seen a growing trend of events and weddings looking for stand out experiences in the lead up and during the event - such as heli golf tours from Yandina Station, food experiences by air and of course, the ultimate bridal arrival in style.” Thanks to everyone involved in bringing this collaboration to life including Tammy and Mick who were wed on Friday after Tammy and her Dad arrived in style. No amount of rain stops the tourism industry from a great beer, good food and a chance to catch up! This week was filled with productivity and inspiration as I had the pleasure of catching up with some amasing people. Yesterday, I was given a grand tour of Yandina Station by Justin Lippiatt accompanied by Malcolm Loxton For those looking for a unique venue, I highly recommend visiting Yandina Station. We had a great morning talking business practices that are good for people, planet and profit. That's definitely possible to achieve! And, the speakers today had some excellent simple words of advice for everyone to take away and make a start. The keynote speaker was Ellie from Go For Zero Australia. This business is more than a low waste and toxin-free online store with the most genuinely green brands in Australia & New Zealand. It's really a community of like-minded people that are not willing to compromise their individual health or the health of planet Earth. It's really no wonder that Go For Zero won the inaugural Sunshine Coast Biosphere Business of the Year award recently. Head to their website to learn more about their purpose, their green processes and their giveback to people and planet. The other speakers brought their perspectives and insight to shine more light on the experience of adopting sustainability practices in business. It was excellent to hear from Kalena Stano (Lendy - think airbnb for things you own/need) Bernie Craven (Waste Free Systems for the hairdressing industry) and Mark Cameron (The Point Coolum Beach - Ocean View Villas adopting practices that reduce the waste from short term accommodation stays). All speakers had similar advice to share: ^ Change your mindset about sustainability ^ Start with something simple like a waste audit and the introduction of a bin separation system ^ Find a champion in your team who can lead the way ^ Talk with your customers and suppliers about sustainability and invite them onboard ^ Educate yourself further (plenty of great business support programs like Ecobiz or just ask Google for ideas on sustainability practices ^ START TODAY even if it's only doing one thing differently but do it constantly and make it a habit before you move on.
