🌟Midweek Memories: Our 10 Year Story🌟 On 30 March 2017 Young Australians in International Affairs hosted Mr Noel Campbell and Mr Robert Fergusson, who were the Australian Ambassadors to Argentina and Chile respectively, at the Flinders University Victoria Square campus. The event was held in conjunction with the Flinders University School of History and International Relations, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The speakers discussed the status of Australia’s current bilateral relations with Argentina and Chile, identified areas which the Australian government will pursue for future growth, and conveyed to the audience some of the experiences to which they had been exposed as career officers in DFAT. We love engaging with current and past diplomats! If you are interested in partnering with us to help empower and educate the next generation of young leaders, head to our website to learn more! https://lnkd.in/gumPw5EB

"Introducing a First Nations Ambassador position is certainly a step in the right direction towards reconciliation and the empowerment of Indigenous voices across all levels of government. However, many international observers can’t help but view the position as performative – especially in light of Australia’s track record on Indigenous rights both domestically and transnationally." Australian Foreign Policy Fellow Isabella Gockel demands meaningful, multilevel action to improve Australia's holistic approach to First Nations issues. https://lnkd.in/eTvas8_n
