About

35-years of experience across corporate advisory, funds management, innovation, IP commercialisation, corporate restructures and transaction/project leadership roles. Aiming to retire at 88 as seeking new challenges and continual learning is my DNA.

Core strengths being:

o Stakeholder engagement across government, venture capital, research intensive organisations and private sector in domestic & international jurisdictions

o Innovation Pathway from concept to market adoption

o Intuitive thinking underwritten by due diligence and logic processes

o Leadership and collaboration that seeks to empower & support team members and partners

o Passion for innovation that has impact, market need and playing role in realising the commercialisation and/or adoption of the originators vision

o Not being an expert in all things but ensuring application specific understanding of the science/technology & market drivers is leveraged by knowledge area specialists

This focus has been delivered through senior corporate management & advisory roles, consulting to major research institutes & universities, concept origination & lead management of major property & infrastructure projects, developing private, public & government structured finance models and personal entrepreneurship in agriculture-based start-ups.

Having wide ranging roles from CEO of a Romanian property development company, concept origination & project lead of the world’s first cognitive Innovation District, facilitating start-ups from idea to capital raise, advising research intensive universities and institutes on intellectual property strategy, innovation & commercialisation and developing complex onshore & offshore financing structures for property & infrastructure my key learnings have been:

o Extensive research and due diligence are a key to the origination and progression of any project;

o Origination of an idea or project must be based on logic with success being incremental and subject to identifying and solving technical and market barriers; and

o Team and stakeholder engagement are critical for innovation as ownership is the key driver of innovation and commercialisation

    I believe that it is important that when our family travels for a holiday to a new country, you spend time working in the local community. The Elephant Sanctuary was an example of this where, as a family, we worked with local community on creating sustainable projects and caring for elephants within the sanctuary.

    Education

    The Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) is a program that provides Year 7 schooling at facilities provided by the Richmond Football Club. At the end of Year 7 the students are provided scholarships with various Melbourne schools to continue their education. As a Family we were very fortunate to be selected to be a Host family for a great Yolngu Boy (now Man!) who lives with us during school term. It has been an amazing and enlightening experience.
