my greatest lesson and advice to inspiring, motivating, supporting and embracing people and talent is to be human. Be human in all you do. Empathy, Kindness, and a humane attitude to all you interract with, will give you results in performance comittment and trust You cannot achieve this by following a hymn sheet or 100 point check list. Ive applied this mindset around the world in all kinds of cultures and countries. Being human is a must.

Today we have a far more varied and complex enviroment to perform in. Culture and language are clear humps in the communication highway of a brands messaging and communication. Clarity is key. Keeping messaging simple,direct and consistant is key to maintaining your brands voice, its tone and manner and its personality as it engages markets around the world. Especially when you are not in the room. Helping users within the brands marketing departments to stay true to the valuable guide lines of that brands values needs to be simple. Dont complicate simple ideas. Keep design and templates usable. Always explain by example.

Consistancy is common sense when establishing and maintaing a brand through its visual presence. Designers spend huge amounts of considered time developing a visual, a design representing a brand. Even more time producing material that protects that visual and assets supporting it. Creating Brand Bibles or Design Guidelines ensure all touch points by all users get the most from the assets through proper understanding. Marketeers must respect this when engaging with customers and consumers on multi platforms from traditional to digital media. Remember the consumer sees all. Spotting inconsistancies in their brands presence, engagement and communication, they will avoid the brand because familiarity and ultimately trust are being eroded.

Before you get all tangled up in trying to please everyone and everybody with everything and become a bland reflection of nothing, decide very quickly, who you are, what your represent,what you have to offer,why and how its different or needed. Then be clear on your purpose of being relevant. Like a toolbox...you dont need everything in there just the the right things to do the job perfectly and the talent to get the most out of them. For those quick to whip me or shoot me down, remember this is an opinion based on my journery of learning and successes. Keep everything simple, be honest and clear. Your brand will resonate,many will become your champion because they see how your messging of purpose value and relevance includes theirs.

while we demand more and more information about our audience and its habits in order to better prepare our messaging its impact and identify oportunities,its also important to know and be in control of the impact we have on our audience and the manner in which we are conditioning or educating them to react and cause action. By this i mean, instead of using consumer behaviour to determime "our" actions..we are equally positioned to change behavioir and cause our audiences to work in our favour. To clarify...we must respect the audience behaviour and help them improve their habits by doing things different and perhaps in more advantangeous ways for them as individuals and a crowd. Optimizing a very different, analysis and content strategy.

this may sound way too old school..but the principle is the same. To gauge engagement or to measure it woth anyone you need a response. And you get a response when you ask your audience a question. Then give them an easy way to reply. Now you have connection and engagemnt and the beginning of a conversation at the same time the collection of valuable data or info from your audience. There..and i never once mentioned anything to do with technology...just good ol human behaviour.
