You're optimizing your SEM strategy. How do you navigate a client's request for broad keywords only?
It’s a tricky one because the problem isn’t really what’s the best approach but fundamentally that the client has a predetermined idea of the best approach. Instead of rejecting their request or even educating them on its flaws I’d: - seek agreement that we shouldn’t work in absolutes and always be testing to determine best results for this account. - ask them why they believe this will yield the better result and ask if they have evidence for and against this approach in the account. (I.e what’s led to this absolute strategy). - ask them what you need to do as the account manager to earn their trust and have input in strategy? (Ie why do they feel the need to tell you how to do your job?)
