About
Prior to founding WQMS, I spent 20 years providing metallurgy and root cause failure analysis consulting experience to the coal mining industry in the Hunter Valley and Bowen Basin coal mining regions. Having completed more than 1000 failure analyses, I know why and how equipment fails. During this period, I also gained extensive first-hand experience of equipment structural inspections and NDT methods, and the challenges of applying this information for risk and repair management. I came to realise that a fundamental problem existed with how the whole equipment inspection and repair management process was carried out. Poor crack repair outcomes cause significant issues with re-cracking, downtime and failures. However, despite the same problems and challenges being experienced across the industry, nothing was changing and no-one had come up with a solution that worked to sustainably achieve effective repairs of cracking. Believing that there must be a better way, together with Eddy Constable I founded WQMS in 2018 with the mission of addressing these issues and providing an industry relevant solution that worked. The result of our work is a solution package that is practical, sustainable and simple to implement. It consists of the AICARM Framework, Mining Welder Competency, and Crack Data System.
