UWA and Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research spin out company CoraMetix recently showcased its revolutionary 3D-printed heart valve technology on Innovation Nation TV. UWA biomedical engineer Dr Elena De Juan Pardo developed a 3D printed valve made of a polymer and worked closely with Fiona Stanley Hospital cardiologist Dr Abdul Ihdayhid to develop the technology, which could save the lives of millions of people who suffer from aortic stenosis. Congratulations to the CoraMetix team who are a step closer to clinical reality after entering into a seed funding deal with FundWA to help commercialise the technology.
