The Green Recovery project component, spearheaded by GIZ over two years, has significantly advanced the green transition in BiH. 🔍 A major focus was on transparency, ensuring accessible information on green and circular economy policies through a new web platform managed by Vanjskotrgovinska - Spoljnotrgovinska komora BiH. This platform also promotes best practices and serves as a vital resource. 🌐 📚 Comprehensive green business model manuals and guidebooks have been released, available to industries, experts, and students at technical faculties, fostering educated and sustainable business practices. 🔄 The initiative sparked valuable public-private dialogues, culminating in concrete Recommendations from the private sector for advancing BiH’s green economy. 🏭 Most importantly, the pilot implementation of green business models in five metal and wood processing companies demonstrated significant environmental and economic benefits, thanks to combined financial and technical assistance. 📈 🤝 These positive outcomes have inspired these companies to develop and pursue their own green transition plans, showcasing the effectiveness of an integrated support model. Based on the applications received for the Public Call published earlier this year, five companies expected to be most significantly impacted by European climate policies, such as the CBAM mechanism, were selected: ·      𝗰́𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗰́𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘅 𝗨𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗮 Ćosićpromex d.o.o. is engaged in the production of metal structures and parts, with 95% of its production aimed at export. They have been operating in the metal sector for over 20 years and are known as a reliable and high-quality partner. ·      𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗱.𝗼.𝗼. 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗮𝘀̌𝗶 Vendom d.o.o. was founded in 2008 and has been experiencing continuous growth since then. Vendom is specialized in the production of waste management systems and cranes for emptying containers. ·        𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗶 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗻𝗶𝗸 Trendy d.o.o. produces metal parts for the automotive industry, pharmaceutical industry, aviation industry, and industrial automation. They use high-productivity machines from renowned manufacturers. ·      𝗔𝗹-𝗕𝗼𝗪𝗶𝗗𝗼 𝗗𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗷 𝗝𝘂𝗴 Al-BoWiDo d.o.o. is a leading company for the production of ALU systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They adhere to highly demanding Bosnian and Herzegovinian standards, as well as international market standards. ·      𝗩𝗿𝗮𝗰̌𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗸𝗼 Vračo d.o.o. is a family business with over 45 years of experience in the field of sheet metal and metalwork. The company has developed two of its products, metal shelves and the "Pecara" oven for preparing various types of dishes, which they market in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU. 📄The conducted RECP audit will result in detailed reports that will include expert observations and recommended measures for improving resource efficiency and supply security. Additionally, all companies will receive transition plans that will cover all the steps needed to implement the measures identified during the audit. 🌿✨The ISE community gathered in #Marseille this week for our event Shaping Sustainable Innovation in the Mediterranean! We are proud to announce that as members of the Logex community, we celebrated Circular Economy Week by organizing a workshop for media professionals, journalism students and environmental advocacy experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The workshop aimed to enhance understanding of the key principles of the circular economy and strengthen the capacity to effectively communicate these ideas to the wider public. Participants had the opportunity to gain new knowledge, master the terminology and explore the numerous benefits and opportunities offered by the circular transition. Additionally, participants engaged in creative work, preparing articles on topics related to the circular economy. 🌍 Last week, our team was privileged to participate in an enlightening Carbon Accounting training session as part of the Green Agenda Innovation Acceleration (GAIA) project. Held from May 13 to 17 at the scenic Bjelašnica, the training was designed to enhance the expertise of professionals dedicated to providing top-tier carbon management services to companies both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and internationally. This comprehensive training covered essential methodologies such as: 📊 Calculating the carbon footprint of businesses, 🎯 Setting realistic emissions reduction goals, 🌱 Developing robust strategies for reducing carbon footprints, 🔍 Monitoring and refining these strategies to ensure continued success.
