Sara Vanovac, a young physicist who secured a position in the doctoral program at the prestigious Caltech, brings her expertise and enthusiasm to the forefront in her speech at FLS. She delves into how quantum technologies are poised to reshape our world. In 1960, upon winning the Nobel Prize in physics for his work on quantum chromodynamics, Richard Feynman was asked by a reporter, “Is there any way your work can be explained in layman’s terms?” Feynman’s reply, “There certainly must be, but I don’t know what it is,” highlights the baffling nature of the quantum world, even to those who are considered experts. Today, the buzz around quantum technology is palpable. Headlines proclaiming “The Future is Quantum” are ubiquitous, driven by significant advancements in realizing quantum technologies such as quantum computers and quantum sensors. However, there is a gap. While quantum technology is a hot topic, most of the population lacks formal education in quantum physics. In this keynote, Sara demystifies the quantum world and addresses some of the most common misconceptions surrounding quantum technologies and their impact on society.

Digitalization impacts every segment of our life, and it can be utilized in creating innovative and revolutionary approaches. Ultimately, the goal is to help artists sell their works within the new artistic digital market and thereby achieve economic prosperity. Ivana Kurešević is a designer, artist, and founder of Ivy Q Studio located in Šamac, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Before founding Ivy Q Studio, Ivana worked as a scenographer and costume designer for the Cultural Scene of Little Things and the City Theater of Trebinje. Through IVY Q, Ivana successfully conveyed the soul of Bosnia and Herzegovina, using new and modern concepts. Her jewelry collection is made of recycled materials, which come from different industries, and Ivana combines them with bold and contemporary designs. The studio is engaged in the creation of modern jewelry inspired by cultural heritage, especially Bosnian medieval tombstones – “stećci” and the Bosančica script. Ivana uses a fast process from idea to prototype and test examples. Her goal is the digitization of cultural heritage and the maximum utilization of unwanted materials from various industries to transform them into desirable objects. Ivana is one of the winners of the public call within the “NFT for Women” project, and her work became part of the first selected NFT collection in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almir Brljak the COO of Sinn Studio Inc. gave a fascinating keynote on XR Unleashed Navigating The Explosive Future Of Video Games. He highlighted some of the learnings over the years, demystified extended reality (XR), virtual reality (VR), Mixed reality (MR) and augmented reality (AR). He also delved into the hardware and software development in this industry and why XR has a big future in the gaming industry. Check out his keynote to learn more. Almir was born in Novi Travnik and has grown up in Toronto. He spearheaded the business and marketing strategy for Swordsman VR, an award-winning XR title. Under his leadership, Swordsman VR surpassed sales of prominent brands like The Walking Dead and Star Wars. Almir continues to drive the studio’s strategy, collaborating with industry giants such as Meta, PlayStation, ByteDance, and HTC.
