❗Important update! North Macedonia became the first country to ratify the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations, which was developed and negotiated under the auspices of RAI! The International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations aims to prevent and combat corruption by providing direct administrative exchange of information concerning asset declarations between the Parties of the Treaty. The Treaty enables anti-corruption bodies to communicate formally with each other regarding data on foreign assets and interests, significantly enhancing verification of declarations and demonstrating essential commitment to the fight against corruption and strengthening cooperation in the Southeast Europe region. As we continue our efforts to make the Treaty fully operational, we sincerely hope that the decision made by the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia will inspire other signatories, Serbia, Montenegro, and Moldova, to take the same step. RAI's work related to the Treaty has been supported by Austrian Development Agency and is continuing through the SEE-TAC II Programme, implemented with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Civil Society Unit. 👉More on: https://lnkd.in/ebha5wnA #SoutheastEurope #RegionalCooperation #AssetDeclaratations #AntiCorruption #Corruption #NorthMacedonia

About us
Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) is an intergovernmental regional organization, which deals solely with anti-corruption issues, covering the nine member states: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. Regional Anti-corruption Initiative’s mission is to lead regional cooperation to support anticorruption efforts by providing a common platform for discussions through sharing knowledge and best practices. RAI’s motto is: “We look for better anti-corruption solutions together”. It is a product of states’ cooperation, institutionalized by signing the Memorandum of Understanding concerning cooperation in fighting corruption through Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (previously known as Stability Pact Anti-Corruption Initiative – SPAI), signed in 2007 and the Protocol amending the MoU, signed in 2013. The organization’s Secretariat is based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Closing the week in #Tirana, #Albania! This week, the RAI Secretariat attended the "Fast Tracking the Implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption - Regional Platform for the Western Balkans" conference. Initially endorsed by high-level government representatives from the Western Balkans in Ohrid, North Macedonia in 2021, the Western Balkans Regional Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance (ACIF) Roadmap aims to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) across the region. The conference in Tirana, hosted by the Ministry of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption of Albania and organized by the UNODC, brought together representatives from all Western Balkan jurisdictions. Together, we discussed about the priorities for the new Roadmap and requirements for future technical assistance to advance its practical implementation. RAI has been an implementing partner during the development and implementation of the ACIF Roadmap, led by UNODC. In her closing remarks, the Head of RAI Secretariat, Ms. Desislava Gotskova, LLM has underlined that RAI remains committed to partner and support this initiative.
