The finals of the 2024 Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament took place on Friday, July 12th, at the 3W’s Oval at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. The BTMI is major partner and sponsor of the Barbados Land X-Change Conference; a MICE conference. This conference brings together forty(40) buyers and forty (40) suppliers and some plus ones for 1-to-1 business meetings and social networking receptions, dinners, excursions and more on our beautiful island. In the past this conference has been held in Jamaica, Bahamas, Curacao, Paris, and most recently in Ireland to name a few. This year, it is being held in beautiful Barbados at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle from July 11th - 15th. Zane Maloney continues to make Barbados proud in F2 racing. This past weekend in Silverstone while there were no race wins he landed two very important podium finishes, where his team is now well-placed to fight for the Championship in the second half of the 2024 campaign. When commenting on his performance last weekend he stated, “To come away from the weekend with two P2s though, you can never complain. The only thing better is obviously Bahrain. But other than that, it’s the best weekend I’ve had in Formula 2 and I’m really happy about it.” #TheBTMI #MyBarbados #LoveBarbados

The Sir Garfield Sobers International School Tournament semifinals were held yesterday, July 11th, at the 3W’s Oval at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill. The semifinalist playing at the 3W’s Oval were The Lodge school vs. NY Tri-State Giants. We took some time to catch up with the coaches for each team and asked them how they were feeling about the tournament and their respective team performances up to this point. The Lodge School Coach Teddy Foster is a former Barbados Cricketer, and the NY Tri-State Giants coach Wesley King is a Barbadian who has played for many clubs notable with the Police Force, BCL and Carlton, calling Malvern Cricket Club in St. George his home club. Both coaches commended the great job done by their bowling teams, and notably the Lodge School is the only local school who has succeeded to the semi finals. The match ended: NY TriState Giants 162 all out (33.3 overs) (Sabrish Prasad 52, Abhiram Gidugu 28, Yatin Mokana 18, Rayaan Taj 15; Nathan Clarke 4-25, Rachad Gill 3-39). Alleyne 63 all out (17.5 overs) (Rachad Gill 24, Ramon Redman 18; Sabrish Prasad 4-10, Rayaan Taj 3-23, Ishaan Taj 2-13).
