🎙️ Through crises and their solutions – A farewell to Maria Demertzis 'Be prepared for the unprepared' said Maria Demertzis in the studio of The Sound of Economics for one last time in her capacity as Senior fellow and Bruegel’s former Deputy director. On the future of the European Union and its future challenges, she stated that 'resilience is going to be the one word we have to really bang on anything on policy. It has to be policy that can do well enough in a big variety of circumstances, because we just simply do not know what the circumstances are going to be, and we cannot be caught off guard. We have the time to react like we did with the pandemic. We had things we could do, but making sure that there are options out there if and when shocks hit us to react and to find the strength and the money and the willingness to actually deal with the shocks as they hit us.'
