At Carmeuse, we care about people. Our Maple Grove Operation stepped up to help combat two fires this summer in the nearby rural area by providing local firefighters with an emergency water supply from their water system. In both instances, local emergency teams reached out to the Maple Grove Production Manager requesting permission for the emergency water supply as the plant was the closest water source. Permission was immediately granted and the Maple Grove team went into action by having people stationed at the front gate to direct the emergency vehicles to the on-site pump fed fire hydrant. A total of 102,500 gallons of water was loaded into the fire trucks, helping to put out these fires and to prevent spreading to nearby structures. This is a great example of how our company and employees support our surrounding communities and local volunteer firefighters. #WeCareAboutPeople #MapleGroveOperation #Carmeuse

Carmeuse Foundation: Entrepreneurship Flourishes Among Thai Youth   In the heart of Lopburi province, Thailand, 150 students from Phatthana Nikhom School embarked on an exciting challenge: developing an idea, conducting in-depth research, formalizing it into a business case, implementing it, and finally presenting it to a jury at the Junior Achievement entrepreneurial competition.    Beyond the prizes awarded to the winning teams, it was the spirit of initiative and creativity among these young participants that truly shone. The Carmeuse Foundation takes pride in supporting these future leaders and fostering entrepreneurship among Thai youth. 🌟 #CarmeuseFoundation #WeContributeToABetterWorld

Our inhouse oxyfuel pilot kiln getting ready for start-up! Great visit to project Butterfly – our pilot facility that we build to test carbon capture at the level of a lime kiln! The Carmeuse technologies team, in collaboration with the CRM and partners, is in the process of commissioning the pilot kiln in Belgium. And yes... a pilot can be big as you can see! Lime is a trivial product in many industrial application but as a hard-to-abate sector we have the challenge to find a solution to reduce the CO2 emissions that originate from the chemical conversion of limestone into lime. Very proud to see Carmeuse actively embracing this challenge by working on a solution that is designed and initiated with a vision. A vision to find the most optimal way to decarbonize lime production for our plants across the world.   An exciting phase in the project lies ahead of us with multiple testing campaigns over 2024 and 2025! A big thank you and congratulations to the whole team that supported to make it already this far - from idea generation - to concept feasibility - to project management - to design, procurement and execution - to commissioning... The next big step of running the campaigns is approaching!   This project is a collaboration between Carmeuse, CRM Group, University of Liège, CTI, EBC, CORETEC, VOCSens and the University of Mons and has received funding support by the Walloon Region and the European Union -NextGenerationEU. A great thanks to all to make this possible. #hardtoabatesector; #decarbonization; #netzero; #teamworkmakesthedreamwork; #innovation; #greendeal

Since February, the Cultural Empowerment Program, initiated by Carmeuse Majan (Oman), has worked to empower children through skill development, creativity, and personal growth. The program seeks to nurture the child’s personality, talents, and individual skills. By doing so, it aims to make each child intellectually, psychologically, and emotionally independent—especially crucial for orphans who require additional support in these aspects. To this date, our Carmeuse colleagues organized several workshops: 🎯 Strategic Planning, equipping individuals with essential planning skills 💰 Money Management, teaching financial literacy and responsible money handling 📚 Writing Storybooks for Children, fostering creativity and storytelling abilities. #Carmeuse #CarmeuseFoundation

The Carmeuse Manitowoc Operation recently embarked on an exciting journey — an autonomous truck trial. Collaborating closely with the Mine Digitalization and Mine Engineering teams, along with West Region support, Carmeuse began the testing stages for this groundbreaking trial project in January of 2024 with promising results: 💡 Reducing Risk Exposure: The use of autonomous trucks helps to reduce the human operators’ presence in hazardous environments. This move significantly reduces the risk of accidents and injuries, while safeguarding our workforce. 💡 Accurate, Accessible, and Faster Operational Data: The autonomous system is able to provide real-time data from monitoring truck performance to tracking material movement. With the data readily accessible, decision-making processes are more informed and helps to to enhance operational efficiency. 💡 Improved Operator Ergonomics: With autonomous trucks handling repetitive tasks, operators can focus on higher-level responsibilities. This shift helps to improve working conditions and comfort. 💡 Reduction of Scope 1 Emissions: The use of autonomous systems helps to lay the groundwork for seamless integration with electric vehicles, which has a direct impact on the reduction of Scope 1 CO2 emission. This trial is a step forward providing a combination of cutting-edge technology, safety enhancements, and environmental consciousness. As Carmeuse finalizes the trial analysis, we anticipate defining the next steps in this transformative journey.
