ClauseBase teamed up with Deloitte Legal Lawyers last week for a chat on how they are implementing the ClauseBase suite of legal drafting products for its own lawyers and for its clients.     Main takeaways:   👫 People — Changing established processes for legal drafting requires more than just finding the right tool. Buy-in is required from the project team, but especially from the users. Focusing on alleviating pain and set up the proper incentives for contribution.   ⚙️ Process — Process improvement requires clear communication and a commitment to continuous improvement. Make sure you are leveraging the right people and expertise for it.   📣 Governance — Make sure to have both a strategic driver of the project and an operational driver. Communicate clearly on the roles and responsibilities of the two.   🖌️ Content – Quality over quantity. Real drafting efficiency is not achieved by "prettifying" an old, broken process but rather with radically rethinking it and solving its most pressing pain points. In contract drafting, this means quick and easy access to high-quality knowledge in the form of templates, standardised clauses, etc.   💡 Technology – Be very clear about the problem you’re trying to solve and don’t get blindsided by magical promises of AI-technology.  Start with identifying user needs and problems before looking for solutions and then perform market research or enlist an expert’s aid to find the tool capable of solving your problem.   Many thanks to Jan Roggen, Tine Bassens, and Tom Mespreuve for sharing their knowledge!
