🌳 As a tree-planting organization, we now have projects in our portfolio that will generate carbon credits in addition to our non-certified projects. 🎥 Since this is still an unclear topic for many, we have launched our 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 to introduce you to the world of tree planting, carbon removal projects (through ARR), types of impact, and the market of carbon offsetting. 👇 In this first episode, we let our field partner jurgen Heytens from the organization Faja Lobi explain the importance of reforestation, how it should be approached in DR Congo, and the crucial importance of carbon credits for the local population. ⭐️Brand new research in 'Nature' on macroeconomic climate damages. ⭐️⭐️ 🚨 Key finding: the world economy is already committed to an income reduction of 19% within the next 26 years independent of future emission choices. The damages are six times larger 🤷🏽♂️ than the mitigation costs that are needed to limit warming to 2C. To date, most studies on climate-related economic damages focus on national-level impacts. By using new empirical findings from climate impacts on economic growth in more than 1,600 subnational regions over the past 40 years, this analysis paints a much more granular picture. Global annual damages in 2049 are estimated to be at 38 trillion dollars, with significant economic costs for the U.S. and also Europe. Le Score Carbone Axylia arrives in Belgium with the BE Truth index. 🇧🇪   The index comprises of companies (Belgian listed large-cap companies (>1Bn € ) and companies who have been part of the BEL 20 in the last 3 years) who achieved the highest rated ‘Carbon Scores’. https://lnkd.in/dXn82wSd   The #CarbonScore measures to which extent the operating profit of a given company can cover its so-called carbon bill. The calculation of the bill results from the conversion of all greenhouse gas emissions into euros, based on a carbon price of 127 euros per ton, as set by the IPCC in its latest publications.    Companies who obtain a Carbon Score of A, B, or C, maintain positive carbon-adjusted profitability. Companies with a score of D, E, and F fail to maintain carbon-adjusted profitability. This score is simple, transparent, and standardised.    The Carbon Score was launched in 2019 by Axylia, a French consulting firm specializing in sustainable finance. Its success in France led to the VÉRITÉ 40 index. Today, more than 15 French companies such as LVMH, Getlink, Bureau Veritas, Legrand, and ST Microelectronics have endorsed this initiative and communicated their Carbon Score.
