StoRIES Early-stage Researcher network continues to grow with 36 researchers. The Early-stage Researcher network (Bachelor, Master, PhD students, and PostDocs within 2 years after their PhD) provides opportunities for researchers in the field of energy storage to benefit from the fund of scientific knowledge and improve their skills under the supervision of leading scientists and engineers. The network's researchers are given priority in the StoRIES mentoring programme and summer schools. They are also actively informed about conferences dealing with hybrid energy storage, invited to present their work to the StoRIES community to improve quality, and involved in the revision of the project publications. 🔧🚢 Exciting updates from the ATOL Project! 🚢🔧 We are happy to share some significant advancements in the ATOL Project, where the SES Lab of UNINA and CNR-ITAE, coordinated by Adolfo Palombo and Salvatore Vasta, are pioneering cutting-edge solutions for thermal energy storage on maritime vessels. 📚 Following a literature review on different thermal energy storage systems for large ships, we have identified the most promising technologies to investigate further. This review lays a strong foundation for our ongoing research. 🔬 Our current focus is designing and realising a lab-scale prototype for thermal energy storage using innovative sorption materials. This prototype marks a crucial step in demonstrating the viability and efficiency of our proposed solutions. 💻 Additionally, we are developing an in-house dynamic simulation model to evaluate the integration of thermal energy storage systems onboard large ships. This model is essential for assessing performance and optimizing technology integration within ship-plant energy system layouts. 🗓️ On July 12th, we held a productive meeting to discuss our progress and outline the next steps for the project. The insights and strategies developed during this meeting will propel us forward as we continue to advance sustainable energy solutions for the shipping industry. ⚡ As key efforts are ramped up across Europe towards achieving net-zero emissions goals, a central objective here at RISEnergy is to create a wide European ecosystem to accelerate research and innovation (R&I) on clean energy technologies. 🔗 In bringing its work to fruition, the project connects a consortium of 69 beneficiaries from 22 countries. 💡 Interested to learn more about the project’s expansive network?
