Will the human brain get better at recognising AI generated content? Are we going to develop new neural pathways to be better equipped at facing this augmented reality? 🧠 Right now people are not very good at distinguishing between human voices and voices generated by artificial intelligence (AI), but our brains do respond differently to human and AI voices, according to a research presented last June at the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies - FENS Forum 2024 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4UHu34E What do you predict? #AI #neuroscience #cybercrime

Heading to #SfN2024 next October? Don’t miss this event by our division, the ALBA Network! Join us as we celebrate progress in promoting diversity and inclusion in brain research over the past year. We’ll also be discussing the key challenges postdocs face in academia today and exploring ways to overcome them. Hope to see you there!
🚨 Save the Date! 📅 8 Oct 2024 | 🕡 6:30-8:30 PM Join us at #SfN2024 in Chicago, for a special ALBA-IBRO Social featuring Dr. Mayank Chugh (College of William and Mary, US). Dr Chugh has worked collaboratively with multiple stakeholders at the institutional and federal levels to reduce opaque and discriminatory structural policies to help retain early career researchers from marginalised backgrounds in academia. He will share his insights on the challenges postdocs face. Factors such as a lack of work-life balance and job insecurity significantly impact their professional journeys, leading many exceptional scientists to reconsider a career within academia. 👉🏾 https://loom.ly/38nSTKI Snacks & drinks provided! Cognitive Psychologist | Neuroscientist | Consultant | Reader | FENS-KAVLI Scholar | British Neuroscience Association joint meetings secretary |
I am delighted that my career journey and research have been featured in the 100th issue of the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) Bulletin, "Route Finding in Science." The article discusses my work on spatial #memory and #schemas, from early studies with animal models to enhancing our understanding of human #cognition, particularly in relation to conditions such as #dementia. My research has always focused on the neurobiology of memory, and I am currently investigating its translation into practical applications. I am passionate about public engagement. Collaborating with organisations like the u3a UK (The Third Age Trust) and various public and patient groups has been a rewarding experience, especially in co-designing research on topics such as brain health and dementia. Supporting early-career researchers is another area to which I am deeply committed. Through initiatives with Liverpool Neuroscience and as a Federation of European Neuroscience Societies - FENS The Kavli Foundation scholar, I have had the privilege of building strong networks both locally and internationally, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange to advance neuroscience research. Thank you to everyone in the network! Had an amazing time presenting my poster at the FENS Summer School in Lausanne! 🎉🧠 The location was gorgeous, which made the whole experience even more memorable. I had the chance to connect with some brilliant people and share ideas on neuroscience. Huge thanks to the organizers for creating such an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere! 🙌 Check out this quick video of me presenting.
