A combination of fertilizing products can be used to address a deficiency of micronutrients. The uniform application of micronutrients to soil can be difficult due to the small quantity required so foliar feeding is the primary method of fertilization. However, in the unlikely event of soil fertilization, uniform application can be improved through the use of an NPK fertilizer as a carrier of micronutrients. https://lnkd.in/eXGbrUqK

Micronutrients are an essential part of healthy crops, yet they usually make up less than 1% of a plant’s dry weight. However, even in small quantities they ensure optimal growth. Micronutrient deficiency can disrupt critical plant functions which can not only result in poor plant development, but also a reduction in growth and yield. Micronutrients are of increasing interest to farmers, as the increase in crop yields has reduced soil micronutrient content and increased the need for targeted fertilization. https://ow.ly/Cx5450SEkG6

Our Climate Policy and EU Affairs Senior Manager, Jasmine Barahman spoke the #CCSAEUConference about Carbon Capture and Storage/Usage in the fertilizer industry. Carbon Capture and Storage/Usage is an immediate solution for cutting emissions in ammonia production. A technology-neutral approach that includes low-carbon incentives and especially the creation of a market for low-carbon fertilizers, is the way forward to support the transition of the industry. #Decarbonisation #CCS #CCU #NetZero2050

To help reduce the carbon footprint of the fertilizer sector, Fertilizers Europe has created a Carbon Footprint Calculator (CFC) for assessing direct and indirect GHG emissions related to the production of selected fertilizer products. The tool is available free of charge and it has a worldwide coverage: https://lnkd.in/eP-TwyfF

#Fertilizer Dependence on Russia Threatens EU #FoodSecurity This week's event "Addressing the EU's Dependence on Russian Fertilizers" event shed light on a critical vulnerability in EU agriculture: reliance on Russia for fertilizers. The discussion highlighted several key themes: - The EU is successfully decoupling from Russian gas dependency. However, there is a looming risk of shifting the EU's dependency from natural gas to dependency on Russian fertilizers. - The surge in Russian imports is destabilizing the EU industry. Between the 2020/21 and 2022/23 agricultural seasons, imports of UREA from Russia increased by 103%. Russia's access to cheap or subsidized gas allows it to undercut EU producers. - Every tonne of Russian fertilizer #imports are directly financing the war in Ukraine. - All measures should be put in place urgently to counter the surge of imports, prevent dependency and ensure food security. - A robust domestic fertilizer industry is essential for EU food sovereignty. This conversation is more critical than ever. As with natural gas, Russia could weaponize fertilizer reliance, threatening EU food sovereignty. EU must act to counter fertilizer dependence on Russia and foster a strong domestic fertilizer industry More information on this crucial issue: https://lnkd.in/eXUDyPw4
