Today I take my first steps as Editor for the scientific journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, one of the journals by SETAC. I coordinate the review process for submitted manuscripts in my field of expertise. It will be a steep learning curve! As reviewers are not compensated for their excellent work, gathering qualitative and timely reviews will be my greatest challenge. Question to the scientists among you. Good news for the environment - new #EU_REACH restriction adopted! 📢Are you using Cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), Cyclopentasiloxane (D5), or Cyclohexasiloxane (D6) in your products? Starting 6 June 2026, the use of D4, D5, and D6 in consumer and professional products is restricted in the European Union. These #cyclosiloxanes are used in various consumer and professional products, including #cosmetics, dry cleaning, car waxes and washing and cleaning products. The measure, based on #ECHA's restriction proposal, aims to protect our environment by reducing emissions of these very persistent and very bioaccumulative chemicals by up to 90%. 🌍 Play your part in protecting the environment.
