Last week, we had the honor of being represented at the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) 2024 by Mirko Pierantozzi from our INVE Aquaculture Research Center. 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐐𝐔𝐀2024! AQUA 2024 is taking place from August 26-30 in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. The event will highlight the latest aquaculture research and innovation to underpin the continued growth of this exciting food production sector. Benchmark Genetics experts Harry Tziouvas (Commercial Lead UK, Faroes, and Global Land-Based), Carolina Peñaloza (Lead, Molecular Genetics) and Adrian Antonsen (Geneticist), along with our colleagues Ingunn Thorland (Lead of the Norway Salmon Breeding Program at Benchmark Genetics) and Marcela Salazar (Scientific Director of Benchmark Genetics Shrimp) are going to be in Copenhagen for AQUA2024. They're excited to discuss how our dedicated work, genetic services and cost-effective genotyping panels (available for ~30 species and counting) can benefit your #aquaculture operations. Harry will be happy to discuss Benchmark Genetics for the production of Atlantic salmon on land-based farms and our salmon product portfolio. Marcela Salazar will also be presenting at the conference in Copenhagen today at 14:30. The title of her presentation is: “Genetic selection for resistance to Enterocytozoon hepatopenai and White feces disease in white leg shrimp Penaeus vannamei”. Marcela will highlight the role of genetics in sustainable aquaculture and our use of a new challenge model and genomic tools to effectively select our shrimp lines for resistance to this major disease. This past August 3rd, 36 members of the INVE Phitchit team traded the office for the forest. We headed to the "Khao Noi-Khao Pradu Wildlife Protection Area" in Phitsanulok, where we planted 200 trees and created artificial salt licks to support the local wildlife. 🌳🐾 Thank you to everyone who participated in this project.
