The JGI-HYDROMETAL group will participate in the 63rd Annual Conference of Metallurgists (#COM2024), taking place from August 19-22 in Halifax, Canada. Our Director Mr. Philippe HENRY and R&D project Manager Ms. Amélie Marenne will be presenting "A Unique, Innovative, and Integrated Hydrometallurgical Process for the Recovery of Germanium Contained in Complex Materials at HYDROMETAL." The JGI-HYDROMETAL group is conducting the project #PyroTeCnIC (PYROmetallurgy Intelligent CoNditioning TEchniques for the Circular Economy) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary consortium of companies, research and technology organizations, and universities. Funded by the Walloon Government of Belgium (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), this project aims to transform the industrial sector through innovations in pyrometallurgy and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon non-ferrous metals industry. The JGI-HYDROMETAL group is pleased to announce the launch of communication channels for its Pan-European EU-funded project ZHYRON “ Valorization of iron-rich & Zinc-containing steelmaking by-products via HYdrogen-based ReductiON”. The ZHyRON project, with eight European partners, introduces an innovative approach combining pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical stages, using green hydrogen gas as a reductant. JGI-HYDROMETAL is focused on evaluating, validating, and enhancing the valorization of zinc-bearing products from this process. The JGI-HYDROMETAL group co-hosted the consortium meeting and the general assembly of the EU-funded ZHYRON project. At HYDROMETAL Belgium, the Pan-European consortium discussed the progress made during the first six months of the project.
