    Enhancing Employee Retention through Monthly Listening Sessions Retention of internal talent is a crucial aspect of any organization's success. One effective approach to achieving this is through organizing monthly listening sessions led by employees. This initiative involves the People Manager dedicating time to listen to new suggestions and receiving feedback on how to boost productivity and enhance well-being in the workplace. TheListeningMoment (#LM) The core of this initiative is the "listening moment," a dedicated time each month where employees can voice their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. This session allows the People Manager to gather valuable insights directly from the workforce, fostering an environment of open communication and mutual respect. It's an opportunity to hear firsthand what employees need to thrive and how the company can support their growth and happiness. Self-Management System To further empower employees, the organization can implement a self-management system. In this system, a single point of contact (SPOC) role is rotated among employees each month. This role is responsible for coordinating the listening sessions and ensuring that feedback is documented and addressed. By rotating this responsibility, employees gain a sense of ownership and accountability, while also developing leadership skills. Transitioning from Manager to Coach The People Manager's role evolves from being a traditional manager to becoming more of a coach. Having a sense of personal control can lead to setting and achieving personal goals, coping with stress more effectively, and taking charge of one's health and well-being. However, it is also important to recognize the balance between personal control and acceptance. As the diagram suggests, some elements are inherently outside of one's control, such as others' thoughts or actions, aspects of the environment, or unforeseen circumstances. Understanding and accepting this can prevent feelings of frustration and helplessness when encounters with uncontrollable elements occur.     Technology is certainly having an impact on HR, but the transformation isn't happening as quickly as expected. The potential of technology has not been fully embraced by most HR departments, and they often resort to single solutions for isolated issues. These solutions may tackle problems that employees are not even aware of. The problem arises when multiple point solutions are utilized, resulting in potential conflicts and inefficiencies. HR departments that manage their own technology solutions budgets can worsen this problem. Although HR accomplishes a lot, it's not part of the IT department. I believe it's time to elevate the potential of HR tech, especially with the growing influence of AI in HR processes. It's in the best interest of HR departments to involve their IT counterparts in digitalization plans. Even seemingly straightforward cloud solutions benefit from IT's proactive involvement, enhancing the integration of all point solutions.
