We also facilitate the dialogue between local and regional authorities and other actors of the sector such as industry, research centres and universities, and NGOs. We foster cooperation and partnerships across Europe with the aim of making research and innovation in transport more accessible to cities and regions. To that end, we actively support the participation of our member cities and regions in EU-funded projects.

Dodge RAMs are 3x more likely to kill a pedestrian or cyclist in a collision than a normal car. However, these monster pickup trucks from the US are taking over European streets, with sales increasing 20% in Europe over the past year. Nearly 5,000 Dodge RAMs were brought into Europe in 2023. There are now at least 20,000 on European roads. In addition to the danger they pose to others on the road, these trucks emit between three and nine times more CO2 than the average for newly-sold cars. These vehicles are being imported at an alarming rate through a loophole in EU law called “Individual Vehicle Approval.” This was originally intended for “one-off” specialty vehicles like those for the mobility impaired or for emergency services. The system is now being exploited to import large numbers of US pickup trucks. These vehicles are not required to comply with EU safety regulations, on-road tests for air pollution or the EU car and van CO2 standards. These trucks have no place on European streets. They are heavily polluting and deadly. It’s time to close the loophole that allows these monsters into the EU. We are calling on the European Commission to take action now ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eYg4R_mX BEUC - The European Consumer Organisation Clean Cities European Cyclists' Federation European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) Eurocities International Federation of Pedestrians POLIS Network

Curious about #UrbanLogistics Hubs❓📦 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, the ITF - International Transport Forum has recently published a report just on the topic! Urban logistics hubs are a means to optimise the last mile of urban logistics in terms of better transport and environmental performance. Several major conclusions from this report can guide policymakers tasked with the development of logistics hubs in urban areas. 📝 The report expands on the expert discussions from the ITF Round Table, 'Urban Logistics Hubs,' held in Paris and by video conference on 26–27 June 2023. Raffaele Vergnani, #UrbanFreight Cluster Lead at POLIS, took part and highlighted the efforts to decarbonise urban freight with ALICE, Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ETP LOGISTICS), past and ongoing work on this topic from EU-funded POLIS projects, and with POLIS members like #Rotterdam and #Leuven.
