📢 Belgian action plan for innovative cancer treatment launched! 🚀 Today marks a significant milestone for nuclear medicine in Belgium with the launch of an action plan to make radioligand therapy (RLT) more accessible. ⏭️ This groundbreaking plan aims to future-proof our healthcare system for RLT and strengthen our leadership role. 👩⚕️ Belgium boasts a unique ecosystem with over 5,000 dedicated professionals in nuclear medicine. 📣 SCK CEN experts present their work at the PREDIS Final Conference. The EU-project PREDIS, on pre-disposal management of radioactive waste, is coming to a close with its final conference in Avignon this week. ☢️🗑️ PREDIS has focused on “How can we manage waste for which no adequate or industrially mature solutions are available?”. In the European PREDIS project, we are developing and improving safer treatment and conditioning methodologies and processes. 💡 This research track has ambitious goals: we are seeking innovative, pioneering technologies for better treatment of metallic materials and organic waste, among others. 🧑🔬 For the past four years, SCK CEN took the lead in work package 6 on 'Innovations in solid organic waste treatment and conditioning'. ✅ SCK CEN was well-represented with 14 attendees and no less than 6 presentations on various topics, including the use of geopolymers as alternative alkaline binders for waste conditioning. ➡️ "The work delivered within work package 6 really shows innovation towards waste conditioning, we can be very proud of what we as a team have accomplished." 💬 - Thierry Mennecart, scientific researcher within the Waste & Disposal expert group and coordinator of work package 6 of PREDIS.
