[#Agronomic #News!] 🌾 #Harvest season is underway across France and Belgium, focusing on barley and rapeseed. Yields are predicted to be slightly lower compared to 2023 due to a lack of sunshine and heavy rains (source: Agreste). [London Climate Action Week!] These past two days, we attended Reset Connect, the flagship event for London Climate Week, which brings together leaders and innovators to drive forward #climateaction and #sustainablesolutions. Our Corporate Lead, Marguerite Delormel, spoke on the Net Zero stage to share our mission with farmers and corporates, explaining how we are revolutionising and regenerating the food system's #supplychain. 🌱 There were multiple engaging talks in the #FoodSystem Hub. 🌱 [Monday #Agronomic News!] Last week our teams were at the Agricultural Conservation Festival, organized by Greenotec! We're in a vibrant field exploring a diverse cover crop mix. 🌾🌻 🔍 Today, we showcased a #covercrop blend including mustard, sunflower, Phacelia, buckwheat, and vetch. Each plant contributes uniquely: Mustard & Sunflower: Affordable, easy to grow, and provide significant biomass. Phacelia: Excellent for #nitrogen capture and supports insect life. Buckwheat: Competitive against weeds and adds floral diversity. Vetch: Enhances soil nitrogen through symbiosis with bacteria. 🌿 Benefits of this cover crop - according to MERCI method: #Nutrient Recycling: 220kg of nitrogen captured, 82kg to be released for the next crop. Potassium & Phosphorus: 330kg and 70kg respectively, recycled back into the soil. #CarbonStorage: Estimated 1.2 tonnes of stable carbon.
